Senior Process Safety Engineer

Job Description

Job Objectives

1. Executing assigned scopes of work
2. Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
3. Providing discipline expertise to the business
4. Participating in project HAZOP, HAZID, SIL studies, and other safety workshops when required
5. Providing sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
6. Co-ordinating with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
7. Providing technical support to site as required
8. Producing and reviewing specifications, data sheets, schedules, study reports, and design calculations; ensuring that they conform to engineering quality, competence, and project management systems

Responsibilities

1. Attend client meetings and communicate issues with lead engineer as required
2. Interact with team members in a positive and professional manner at all times
3. Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
4. Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
5. Actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
6. Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments
7. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Technical Safety engineering methodologies, software systems, and design practices as they relate to FEED, Detail Design, Construction, Commissioning, and plant Start-up
8. Thorough awareness of international codes and standards
9. Experience of design deliverables associated with loss prevention scopes
10. Experience of coordinating HAZOP, HAZID, SIL Classification studies
11. Experience of directing Management of Change (MOC) reviews
12. Able to perform Physical Hazard Effects (PHE) modelling as required
13. Able to interrogate & review Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) as required
14. Deputizing for lead engineer where required
15. Executing assigned personal objectives
16. Management of third party suppliers in the execution of engineering delivery
17. Flexible and adaptable
18. Strong commitment to safety

Qualifications

1. BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
2. Experience of Concept / FEED project
3. Demonstrable balance of industrial experience at a relevant level and position
4. Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
5. Minimum of 6 years proven capability in an EPC company
6. Previous experience of site-based project work involving field engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance would be an advantage
7. Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
8. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
