Job OverviewThe Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical engineering activities for the railway project's preconstruction and construction stages. This role involves validating the design provided by the construction contractors, ensuring compliance with mechanical standards, and providing support during the construction supervision phase. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with various departments to ensure the successful execution of the project, particularly focusing on the integration of mechanical systems within the railway infrastructure.
Roles and Responsibilities:- Validate the mechanical design provided by the construction contractor ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and other mechanical systems ensuring they meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Quality Control, ensure that all mechanical systems comply with relevant standards and quality benchmarks throughout the installation and commissioning phases.
- Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather data on existing mechanical conditions, identify opportunities for improvement and provide technical guidance to clients and other project sub-consultants.
- Direct the development and review and approval of mechanical systems, specifically technical drawings audit and evaluation of shop drawings and material submittals.
- Identify and mitigate mechanical risks, providing advice on potential opportunities and threats.
- Provide regular progress reports to the client and internal stakeholders, highlighting any mechanical risks and opportunities.
- Ensure the provision of all necessary mechanical data to the Contract Administration Senior Manager.
- Provide technical support during the construction supervision phase, addressing any mechanical issues that arise.
- Work closely with the required departments to ensure compliance with any legal, financial, and corporate protocols.
- Prepare and deliver mechanical presentations as required.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, technical documentation, and manuals for both internal use and client needs.
- Drive progression via coordination meetings, ensuring all mechanical obligations are met.
- Review and approve mechanical reports, drawings, and specifications submitted by the contractor.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of mechanical works during construction, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with mechanical requirements.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess mechanical conditions and verify the implementation of recommendations.
- Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and project team members on mechanical matters.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent are highly desirable.
Knowledge and Experience:- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Design Engineer, specifically in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Project management experience, particularly with mechanical systems and construction-related projects.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and their integration with systems.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical principles, construction contracts, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple mechanical aspects and stakeholders effectively.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/BIM will be essential.
- Experience working on Rail projects/sector is highly desirable.

- High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in mechanical assessments and validations.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience in managing complex projects, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex mechanical information clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering software and tools, as well as a strong understanding of engineering and construction processes.
- Familiarity with sustainability and energy-efficient system designs (e.g., LEED certification).
