Overall Purpose of The Job: To ensure technical policies and procedures are consistently applied across their assigned vessels.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

1. Safety: Safety is our first priority and the Fleet Superintendent has, in cooperation with the Fleet Manager, the authority and accountability for taking necessary decisions that ensure constant safe operation and that everybody comes home safe while protecting the environment.
2. Customer: The Fleet Superintendent is responsible for the delivery of technical management service to the Customer and is the link between the Customer and the ship, ensuring that the Customer fully benefits from the operational performance of the vessel.
3. Ownership: Own the operation of the vessels, managing them to the highest safety standards, effectively and efficiently in the provision of management services required under the Management Agreement and VMS.
4. Leadership: Authorise selection process of Senior Officers for assigned Vessels, build and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with senior ship colleagues to influence the development of a strong safety culture.
5. Client: Serve as the first contact point for the assigned vessels and liaise with respective Clients, providing timely and accurate reports regarding the management, expenditure, and condition of the Vessel.
6. Monitor: Monitor vessel performance trends including speed, fuel, and lubricating oil consumptions, and implement timely remedial actions.
7. Report Issues: Ensure that any issues affecting safety, environmental, or operational performance of assigned vessels are reported in time.
8. Planning: Plan Dry Dock, Vacation, Ships inspections and other absences with your Fleet Manager to ensure consistent service to Customers.
9. Quality: Prepare vessels for inspection/audit by PSC, Flag, Oil Major and similar bodies, ensuring all third-party inspections are passed.
10. Reporting: Advocate for ShipSure and ensure it is properly utilized within the fleet cell.
11. Finance: Work with relevant members of the Fleet Cell to coordinate information for the preparation of the vessels’ running cost budget.
12. Day to Day: Discuss with Ships’ Command the work plan, running costs, spares, and stores situation.

Essential Qualifications:

• Recognised Engineering or Naval Architecture qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
• Good communication (oral and written) and English language skills.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• An ability to develop creative and effective solutions to problems.
• 2 Years’ experience as a senior shipboard officer on relevant ship type.
• Previous experience as a Fleet Superintendent in a Technical Department or previous experience in a Senior Engineering/Naval Architecture position in the Marine Industry.
• Member of IMarEST and Engineering Council registration or other equivalent recognised professional registration.
• Basic financial understanding and some experience in administering budgets.
