Job description

Role Summary:

The Senior Manager – Operations Performance Improvements will lead the Operations Performance Improvements function within the airport. The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Operations Performance Issues/Enhancements Research, Analysis and Reporting
  • Operations Performance Improvement Initiatives Programme & Project Management
  • Operations Performance Improvement Operational Readiness & Change Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement, Collaboration and Facilitation
  • Operational Performance Improvement Skills Development & Capability Building

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with Airport Collaborative Decision-Making (A-CDM) concepts and the related impacts and benefits for airport and airline operations
  • Experience in implementing methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma for process optimization.
  • Knowledge and operational understanding of Airport Conditions of Use and compliance documentation, detailing resource usability limitations, processing capacity at each touchpoint, and an understanding of the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) Capacity Declaration.
  • Knowledge of the main types of commercial and private aircraft and their requirements.
  • Understanding of Slot Allocation, along with data management and consolidation processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of airport operational resources and processes, including landside operations, passenger, baggage, and cargo handling, as well as check-in procedures, data management, and slot approval.
  • Familiarity with airport and airline disruption and emergency procedures, including incident management per regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of industry regulatory and advisory organizations such as IATA, ICAO, GCAA, and ACI, particularly concerning safety, operations, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as On-Time Performance (OTP), Level of Service (LOS), and Minimum Connecting Time (MHB).
  • Understanding of customer experience principles, including relevant metrics for measurement.
  • Proficiency in AOS, check-in systems, and other systems used in daily airport operations.
  • Strong program and project management skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Knowledge of airport and aviation regulations, including GCAA standards.
  • Understanding of the relevant sections of the Airport Development Reference Manual.
  • Familiarity with Airport Passenger Processing Systems.
  • Knowledge of Airport and Airline Operational Planning.
  • Understanding of airport control center systems.

Education and Qualifications:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant management experience in the airport, airline, or ground handling industry is essential.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders is essential.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Experience working in the GCC region for 2-5 years is desirable.
