• Review and approval of all Project Weld Procedures through direct and indirect communications with the customer and Certifying Authority
• Provide guidance to Welding Engineering group for selection of electrodes based on their physical and chemical and corrosion properties as well as considering their weldability and economics
• Review project schedules, material control reports and welding consumable estimates to determine changes to the welding execution plan
• Assist in the support and development of new automatic welding systems and R & D
• Review and estimates for bids
• Readiness review for important offshore campaigns
• Maintain contacts with internal and external technical groups such as, TWI, DNV, EWI, Welding Equipment and Consumable manufacturers and similar organizations to for update on latest technology
• Assist in resolving Metallurgical, Welding and Quality related problems, through investigating cause of failures and prescribing fit for purpose. Initiate 'Fit for Purpose' evaluations of non conforming work
• Evaluate the performance of Welding Engineers reporting directly to him and make decisions regarding their training needs, changes in classification and / or compensation
• Visit vendor’s facility for technical evaluation
• Monitoring projects during execution stage
