Job Description:
Exclusive, exciting and quite a rare In-House opportunity to join a Global Innovative Media Company that are looking to hire a senior commercial lawyer with experience working in the Middle East. The global legal team are seeking a Legal Counsel, to join either the Dubai or Riyadh office, working closely with the wider network of lawyers in New York.
This Senior Legal Counsel will be required to negotiate and draft a range of global commercial contracts within design, technology, construction, media, payments, data protection, engineering and manufacturing, alongside assisting on corporate governance and compliance matters.
The role is with a World Market Leader in designing, constructing, and delivering the finest live event equipment in the world. A global network of over 1,200 employees in 20 office locations, the organisation has worked on projects in over 30 countries, all 7 continents and even outer space.
The Senior MENA Legal Counsel will advise on general legal matters related to the design and delivery of live experience solutions, including complex touring stages, theatre engineering solutions, amusement/theme park projects, brand activations and cruise ship installations, both domestically and internationally:
- Negotiate and draft documentation for a wide range of global commercial contracts, including manufacturing, construction, engineering, and design.
- Review RFPs and advise on contractual and commercial terms.
- Assist the Business with identifying commercial strategies for bids.
- Advise on contract interpretation.
- Handle valuations of claims, variations including delay and disruption claims.
- Assist with final accounting and commercial close out.
- Resolve disputes and commercial settlements.
- Lead subcontract negotiations, formation and management including imposition of back-to-back contractual, commercial and payment terms.
- Participate in project review meetings.
- Work with corporate governance team to ensure legal regional compliance for the MENA entities.
- Engage on corporate governance, board of directors, and other leadership team matters, as needed.
- Draft, negotiate and administer contracts in order to meet business goals, deadlines and manage risk.
- Negotiate and advise on a variety of contracts, including manufacturing, construction contracts, equipment support agreements, vendor contracts and real estate leases.
- Lead and/or support the drafting and rollout of corporate compliance policies including, e.g., data privacy, document retention and anti-corruption.
- Manage outside counsel in a cost-effective manner.
