Reporting to the COO who is also a Lawyer, the appointee will be responsible for advising on all legal and regulatory aspects for the Family Office
Advising on all legal aspects of transactions, discretionary asset management relations and business projects related to Family Office and be responsible for assisting with risk management in this regard.
The ideal individual will have legal experience in the family office setting, and/or M&A, and/or private equity, and/or fund investments, and/or government/sovereign investment practice.
Coordinating and interacting with internal and international stakeholders, audit firms and local and international law firms will be required.
Advising on corporate governance and compliance with pre-existing and new regulations.
Analyzing complex legal issues and providing consistent sound judgment to the business while balancing business imperatives with legal risk.
Reviewing, advising, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts (distribution agreements, outsourcing agreements, purchase agreements, research and development and software licensing agreements, NDAs, MoUs).
Reviewing, advising, and negotiating investments (direct equity/debt deployments, fund of fund allocations etc.) and joint venture opportunities.
Establishing a framework for effective project management of legal workstreams, including providing timely, clear and comprehensive updates to management on the status of key projects.
Developing strategies and processes to protect, manage and defend the intellectual property rights of the business unit.
Effective supervision and management of external counsel and supporting legal personnel.
Maintaining comprehensive and up to date legal records for the business unit.
Advising and coordinating dispute resolution matters relevant to the business unit.
Promoting awareness of changes in law and regulation which will impact business operations
The Successful Applicant
Qualifying Law Degree(s) and a track record of academic excellence (admission to practice law in a globally recognized jurisdiction highly preferred)
Minimum of 6 years legal experience, including legal experience as a practitioner in a top international and/or magic circle law firm
Experience as a lead negotiation lawyer/ project management attorney
Skilled at analyzing and managing legal and practical risk
