We are looking for a seasoned Lawyer (with Construction Contract and associated litigation experience) who also has previous experience working within a recognized International Law Firm, to be based in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the general counsel, you will be in the range of 7-12 yrs PQE, holding a law degree (Juris Doctorate or equivalent) from a major law school and admitted as an attorney in the US, UK, Canada, UAE or similar jurisdiction.
The role:
Provide strategic legal advice, opinions and recommendations to internal stakeholders on regulatory matters in order to protect the company's interests and optimize business outcomes.
Train, develop and manage associates to support the provision of legal advisory services.
Report to, and liaise with Deputy General Counsel on all material and significant risks and legal issues affecting the company in matters related to the job purpose, and make recommendations on mitigating actions.
Manage legal matters to provide accurate and timely services efficiently and effectively.
Manage external counsels to support the resolution of specific legal matters.
Manage litigation in coordination with internal and external stakeholders in order to protect the company's interests and optimize business outcomes.
Governance and Strategic planning.
Contract negotiation, investigation, dispute and litigation.
Budget responsibilities and accountabilities for the section's budget, and monitoring financial performance versus the budget to ensure alignment.
Ensure compliance to all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Division/Department/Section by the delivery of the Health and Safety Management Program to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service and a responsible environmental attitude.
You will have the following technical competency:
Familiarity with the energy/utilities sector.
Knowledge of United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulatory regime.
Knowledge of International and IAEA legal requirements.
Ability to identify and mitigate legal compliance risks.
Substantive Legal Knowledge.
Knowledge in drafting legal documents.
Ability to provide legal counselling.
Ability to Negotiate.
Knowledge of Nuclear Power Industry.
