Senior IT Network and Telecommunication Engineer

The Senior IT Network and Telecommunication Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network and communication infrastructures within an organization. This role ensures high availability, scalability, and security of the network and telecommunication systems to support business operations. The engineer serves as a technical leader, troubleshooting advanced issues, guiding junior team members, and playing a critical role in infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery, and performance optimization. The position requires in-depth knowledge of networking protocols, telecommunication systems, and modern IT security practices.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise-level LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
2. Manage and maintain telecommunication systems including VoIP, PBX, and unified communications platforms.
3. Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to ensure optimal performance.
4. Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
5. Implement and enforce network security policies including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and VPNs.
6. Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network upgrades, support, and procurement.
7. Provide high-level troubleshooting and support for network and telecommunication incidents.
8. Lead network-related projects such as migrations, infrastructure expansions, or disaster recovery drills.
9. Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configurations, and procedures.
10. Mentor junior engineers and provide training on new technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2. Minimum of 6-8 years of hands-on experience in network and telecommunication engineering roles.
3. Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly preferred.
4. Proficiency in configuring Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar network hardware.
5. Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.).
6. Experience with VoIP systems, SIP protocols, and IP telephony platforms.
7. Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and security platforms.
8. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
9. Ability to lead technical projects and collaborate across departments.
10. Availability for on-call support and willingness to work flexible hours when needed.
