Job description

Job Purpose

  • Provide technical support to department's offshore and onshore projects in the areas of electrical engineering and instrumentation & control engineering. Develop instrumentation & control philosophies and specifications along with associated drawings and documentation.
  • Prepare and/or review the scope of work for FEED and EPIC contracts for offshore and onshore projects with regard to electrical and instrumentation & controls systems.
  • Review and approve electrical and instrumentation and control work performed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform detail check and review of design of power generation and controls, power distribution systems and safety communication systems.
  • Review electrical equipment specifications, including design calculations.
  • Develop and maintain single line diagrams and other electrical engineering design documents.
  • Perform detail checks of electrical plans, equipment, panels, cables, cable trays, lighting, one-line drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Review instrument specifications, including calculations for flow instruments, control valves and relief valves.
  • Perform detail check and review of control system designs, field instrumentation, and control and actuated shutdown valves.
  • Develop and maintain overall control system architecture, block diagrams and other instrument engineering design documents.
  • Perform detail checks of field instrument datasheets, cable routing and cable tray layouts and loop diagrams.
  • Participate in process design reviews, HAZOP and SIMOPS studies and contribute to the design HSE case, apply Human factors, operability and maintainability standards.
  • Develop, control and update applicable cost estimates, project schedules and weight budgets related to electrical engineering and equipment.
  • Participate in identifying fabrication deliverables based on direct interface with design review.
  • Provide construction, commissioning and start-up support as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of oil & gas industry experience with the electrical and/or instrumentation & control engineering disciplines. Should include 5 years of project work in offshore platform design. In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and electrical systems integrity, as well as instrument engineering and control systems. Demonstrated ability to identify, understand and apply applicable industry standards to project work.
