Job Description
Develop comprehensive cost estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify key requirements and potential risks that could impact project costs.
Conduct detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems in large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to analyze project specifications, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
Review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents to prepare comprehensive take-offs and quantity calculations.
Prepare and present detailed bid proposals, including breakdowns of labor, materials, and overhead costs to stakeholders and clients.
Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cost estimation processes.
Monitor project costs and budgets throughout the lifecycle, providing recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
Conduct risk assessments related to mechanical installations and infrastructure development to identify and mitigate potential challenges.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies in mechanical engineering and construction.
Lead and mentor junior estimators, providing training and guidance in best practices and estimation techniques.
Participate in post-bid analysis and project reviews to evaluate performance and improve future estimating processes.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather data on labor, materials, and equipment needed for accurate estimation.
Prepare and present detailed bid submissions, highlighting value propositions and justifications for proposed costs to stakeholders.
Conduct market research to stay updated on pricing trends, materials, and construction methodologies that impact estimation.
Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and alignment with project budgets.
Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to clarify project requirements and build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Monitor project performance against estimates and assist in identifying variances to improve future estimation accuracy.
Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and professional growth.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in infrastructure estimating, particularly in mechanical systems for large projects.
Professional certifications such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or similar credentials are highly preferred.
Proven experience in using industry-standard estimating software like CostX, Sage, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex project requirements and provide accurate estimates.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with project teams and clients.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage for international projects.
Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.
