Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team for an Engineering Consultancy role specializing in FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and Detailed Design for large-scale EPC projects. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the Oil & Gas sector particularly with ADNOC projects and possess a thorough understanding of electrical system design engineering principles and project execution in line with ADNOC's specific requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the electrical engineering scope for FEED and Detailed Design phases of projects ensuring designs meet client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and conduct electrical system design including power distribution, lighting systems, grounding, and protection schemes.
  • Manage the preparation and review of technical documentation including electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Lead design coordination across all electrical systems and ensure integration with mechanical, civil, and other disciplines.
  • Provide technical direction and support throughout the entire project lifecycle from FEED to detailed design and project execution.
  • Lead the preparation of engineering deliverables and ensure timely submission in compliance with project schedules.
  • Collaborate with project management, procurement, and construction teams to ensure electrical design deliverables align with project requirements and timelines.
  • Resolve complex technical issues that arise during design and execution phases and provide effective solutions.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering point of contact for ADNOC, ensuring strong communication and addressing technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings and design reviews to ensure alignment with ADNOC's technical and operational expectations.
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to ADNOC to improve design solutions and meet project objectives.
  • Ensure that all electrical designs comply with local, national, and international standards and codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC) as well as ADNOC-specific regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform and participate in safety assessments, risk evaluations, and HAZOP/HAZID studies to ensure safe and reliable electrical systems.
  • Ensure designs meet operational, environmental, and safety requirements set by ADNOC and relevant authorities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers, providing guidance on technical and professional development.
  • Supervise and review the work of junior engineers to ensure adherence to engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Contribute to the growth and success of the engineering team by fostering a collaborative work environment and promoting continuous learning.
  • Ensure the electrical engineering team adheres to quality standards and best practices in all design work.
  • Lead internal and external design reviews, ensuring all feedback is addressed and incorporated into final deliverables.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technological advancements in electrical engineering and implement innovations that add value to projects.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on FEED and Detailed Design for large-scale EPC projects in the oil and gas industry.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in electrical design for power distribution, lighting systems, MCCs, protection systems, and control systems.
  • Proven track record of delivering electrical engineering design for ADNOC projects with a strong understanding of ADNOC's technical and regulatory standards.
  • Experience in the design, execution, and commissioning of electrical systems within the Oil & Gas sector, particularly in the UAE.
  • Proficient in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical design standards including IEC, IEEE, NEC, and ADNOC-specific requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems including high/medium/low-voltage distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer, etc.) is a plus.
  • ADNOC-approved training or certification is highly desirable.
