• Take a proactive approach in publishing news stories and developing engaging content by keeping track of current issues, events, and trends.
• Collaborate with editorial teams, such as reporting and multimedia, to ensure smooth coordination and efficient production of news stories.
• Develop a network of news sources and proficiency in monitoring tools to stay updated on breaking news, adhering to editorial policies, local laws, and cultural norms in the selection and publication of news stories.
• Enhance the visual presentation of stories by utilizing multimedia elements effectively.
• Write concise, compelling, and well-structured articles that align with our editorial standards and specifically in the area of subject matter expertise.
• Craft engaging headlines and subheadings to capture readers' attention and convey key information.
• Adapt writing style and tone to suit different content formats and target audiences.
• Edit content from a range of sources, including reporters, wires, press releases and more, to achieve maximum engagement on digital platforms.
• Overhaul or rewrite stories, if required, collaborating or connecting with sources to ensure the best quality of content.
• Craft engaging and innovative headlines that resonate with both web and print audiences, tailoring them to meet the distinct requirements of each platform.
• Ensure the timely dissemination of key content on social media and alternate distribution platforms to reach a broader audience.
• Monitor online conversations for compliance with local laws, house brand and online community standards.
• Utilise social media to source news, gather leads, and stay updated on current trends.
• Analyse audience engagement metrics, such as click-through rates and time spent on articles.
• Use data-driven insights to tailor content strategies and improve engagement.
• Experiment with different content formats and topics to gauge audience preferences.
• Stay updated on current events, industry trends, and emerging topics.
• Identify and cover stories that resonate with our digital audience's interests.
• Adapt content to capitalize on trending topics while maintaining journalistic ethics.
• Optimize articles for search engines to improve discoverability and search engine rankings.
• Incorporate relevant keywords, meta descriptions, and tags to enhance online visibility.
• Review content to ensure accuracy, coherence, adherence to brand guidelines, and alignment with editorial standards.
• Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity, fact-checking, and ethical practices in all content produced.
• Conduct regular reviews of UI/UX across the brand’s digital platforms and products, collaborating with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the best practices are employed and optimum user experience is ensured for audiences.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Associate Editor - Digital as and when required, overseeing the overall editorial operations and decision-making.
• Assist in the instruction and training of the team to perform their various roles and responsibilities to the best of their ability.
• Collaborate with various shareholders/departments to execute special engagement projects, demonstrating adaptability and versatility in handling diverse tasks that contribute to the overall success of the organization.
