Job Purpose
The Senior Economist plays a key role in supporting the Institute's training and capacity-building initiatives by conducting economic research and providing analysis that informs the design of training programs. This role involves synthesizing economic data to create educational materials, policy-focused training workshops, and other activities that enhance the economic knowledge and skills of member countries.

Main Responsibilities
Key duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the development and implementation of methods for assessing training needs across member countries, aligning with the Institute's strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including representatives from member countries and internal teams, to gather insights on training requirements.
• Conduct analysis to identify gaps and capacity-building needs, prioritizing training topics based on findings.
• Design and develop relevant and effective programs to address identified training needs.
• Customize training programs to fit the specific needs of member countries and participants' roles.
• Implement quality assurance measures to ensure high standards in training content and delivery.
• Facilitate or coordinate the delivery of training programs through workshops, seminars, online courses, and blended learning formats.
• Ensure that training methods are engaging and interactive, encouraging active learning and knowledge retention.
• Help develop evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Support the development of partnerships with regional training centers, international organizations, academic institutions, and other relevant entities.
• Coordinate capacity-building efforts with partners to maximize impact and avoid duplication of initiatives.
• Foster the exchange of knowledge and best practices through joint training programs and collaborative efforts.
• Establish and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the impact of training initiatives.
• Prepare evaluation reports and share them with the division chief to support decision-making and improve training effectiveness.
• Contribute to research activities, including policy studies and publications relevant to the priorities of member countries.
• Develop publications and materials related to training to disseminate knowledge and best practices.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior economists and staff within the Institute, conducting training sessions to develop their technical skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in economic analysis or finance, preferably within an international financial institution, research body, finance ministries, or central banks.
• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, investment management, or a related field.
• A master’s degree in economics, finance, or a similar field.
• Strong communication and writing skills in both Arabic and English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
