Senior Data Engineer

Lead Data Engineer - On-site in Dubai (must be located in the UAE already)

Our client is well-established in the region and has exciting plans for growth from 2025 onwards. We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to come in and own the business data infrastructure, building systems from scratch to optimize the data warehouse.

This is a unique opportunity to build the data lifecycle end-to-end and form a team in the near future. You will be given the freedom to shape the technical stack and the future of the data division within the business.

The ideal candidate will have been in a similar role as the sole Data Engineer in a start-up/scale-up in the B2C space, organizing data, building Data Lakes from scratch, and making key decisions around data.

Stack:

AWS, Python, SQL, S3, BigQuery, Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, Tableau, PowerBI, MongoDB, MySQL

What You'll Do:

• Build and maintain the Data Lake & Data Warehouse
• Design data architecture and continuously enhance architecture
• Lead end-to-end data engineering lifecycle
• Make key decisions around tools and technologies for future growth
• Align closely with stakeholders in the business to ensure business requirements translate into technical solutions
• Create a culture of data excellence
• Build ETL pipelines from scratch and maintain them

What You'll Need:

• 8+ years of experience in the data engineering space
• Experience in the B2C marketplace space
• Strong background in sorting through volumes of data and shaping how this data will be utilized to optimize business performance
• Previous experience working on greenfield projects, within start-ups/scale-ups is favorable
• Expert knowledge of relational databases and data warehouses (MongoDB, Snowflake, etc.)
• Proficient in AWS cloud
• Experienced managing end-to-end data engineering lifecycle
• Strong background working with Python, SQL, and ETL pipelines
