Senior Civil & Structural Engineer (Oil&Gas/Offshore, EPC/Design Office)

Job Summary.

Sr. Structural Engineer is accountable for producing and maintaining structural deliverables (including, but not limited to Calculations, Datasheets, Technical specifications, Material Requisitions, Technical bid evaluations, Schedules, MTO's, Review GAD's, detail drawings, Work volumes) in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications within the schedule and budget as set-out by the Lead Structural Engineer. It is important to have significant experience working on Onshore/Offshore oil and gas projects and work independently on Staad Pro calculations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead, coordinate, mentor and manage discipline teams on projects when needed.
2. Ensure safe, effective and successful implementation of Civil and Structural engineering activities within budget and schedule requirements.
3. Participate in engineering assignments such as assisting with the development of specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, material take-offs.
4. Prepare Material requisition, technical bid evaluations and review vendor drawings.
5. Get the required inputs from respective disciplines for designing the structures and manage the weight control during various stages of the project.
6. Prepare engineering calculations using Staad Pro, excel spreadsheets and compile the calculation report.
7. Provide inputs to designers for them to prepare the drawing. Lead the designer team and take ownership of the job given.
8. Prepare a design that is most suitable for the intended purpose and that suits the functional requirement of other disciplines and meets customer needs.
9. Participate in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from other parties/execution offices.
10. Take part in 3D Model reviews, Construction reviews, Design reviews.
11. Review materials take-offs and bill of materials. Ensure that the quantities are within budget and any changes are documented with approval from Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager/Project manager.
12. Bring to the attention of the necessary parties, any problems, assistance or matters that may affect quality, deadlines or costs.
13. Establish good working relationships and communication with all Leads, Managers and clients.
14. Interface with Subcontractors, Suppliers and Vendors for completion of engineering activities.
15. Assist in the Structural Engineering activities on projects, tenders under the direction of Lead Engineer.
16. Adhere to the HSE requirements stipulated by Company/Clients.
17. Be ready to visit the yard during construction and understand improvements needed in design.
18. Maintain Quality documentation and report any non-compliances for process improvement.
19. Undertake any other general duties that may be requested. The list of duties is not exhaustive and may change at any time.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/SKILL-SET REQUIRED:

1. Minimum of 12-15 years of work experience in the Oil & Gas industry with at least 10 years in a similar position, i.e. working for EPC Projects in the Oil & Gas sector in analysis, design and detailing of steel and RCC structures.
2. Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.
3. Ability to demonstrate previous experience in the use of software like Staad Pro and Navisworks.
4. Must have good working knowledge of codes and standards (AISC, ASTM, API, BS, etc.).
5. A basic understanding of constructability, operability and maintainability requirements.
6. Verbal and written communication in English is compulsory.
7. Ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment.
8. Should be able to work on fast-track projects and deliver as per project schedule.
9. Strong work ethic and proactive drive to deliver projects within schedule.
10. Ensure deliverables meet strict quality standards.
