The Senior Art Director will lead and direct the Creative Department, ensuring the successful execution of visually compelling and strategically effective campaigns. This role requires a deep understanding of the client’s business objectives, collaboration with Account Management leadership, and the ability to harness, develop, and manage creative talent and agency resources.

The Senior Art Director will work closely with other Art Directors and Copywriters to oversee the creation of layouts and finished print materials while also guiding the conceptual development of multi-platform campaigns. As part of the agency team, they will contribute to delivering impactful advertising through compelling imagery and strategic messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate creative direction into visually compelling work, meeting tight deadlines with efficiency and precision.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity from original concept through to final execution.
  • Originate and develop visual concepts while maintaining a high standard of design.
  • Provide input on brand strategy and creative development to elevate client advertising.
  • Maintain and enforce high creative standards for brand consistency and quality control.
  • Effectively delegate tasks and manage relationships between Creative and Account Management teams, ensuring collaboration and client focus.
  • Participate in briefing sessions for major assignments at senior agency and client levels to maximize concept understanding and acceptance.
  • Lead and deliver effective presentations in collaboration with Account Management teams to support business growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire creative teams while upholding agency standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong conceptual and design skills, with a proven ability to execute impactful visual storytelling.
  • Expertise in branding, conceptual development, and advertising strategy.
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other Mac-based creative programs.
  • Ability to develop and execute ideas efficiently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Confident in presenting ideas and articulating creative concepts internally and externally.
  • Receptive to client and internal feedback, with the ability to refine work accordingly.
  • Strong understanding of advertising history, industry trends, and current creative techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of graphic applications, print production, and photography.
  • Awareness of agency and supplier systems and capabilities.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 4–5 years of experience as an Art Director within major network advertising agencies.
  • A university degree in Arts, Design, or related fields is preferred.
  • Passion for advertising with a keen interest in emerging trends across digital media and innovation.
  • A portfolio demonstrating multi-platform campaigns, including electronic media (TV, activations, social campaigns, and innovative brand experiences). Portfolios limited to KVs or logos do not indicate seniority in advertising.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute concept-driven campaigns across multiple channels for major brands.
  • A track record of finalized, real-world campaigns rather than speculative work or pitch decks.
