Job description

Responsible for implementing the project plan and ensuring all items of project deliverables are delivered on time.
Responsible for monitoring design and construction documentation and maintain technical excellence on all projects.

Responsible for monitoring design and construction documentation and maintain technical excellence on all projects.

Responsibilities

Design development

  • Aiding the Lead Architect with all aspects of design development.
  • Responsible for the design development of projects from concept to completion.
  • Responsible for all local authority compliance and code compliance.
  • Responsible for utilising correct design standards i.e. BS etc.
  • Responsible for all technical detailing of the project.
  • Responsible for meeting the brief from an operational and functional perspective.
  • Responsible for writing and collating the NBS specification under the direction of the Lead and Design Architect.
  • Shared responsibility for writing and updating the brief.
  • Coordination with all sub consultant packages.
  • Review of all drawing packages to ensure full coordination and technical excellence is achieved prior to issue.
  • Assist the design architect with sourcing suitable materials and construction systems in line with the architectural design intent.

Documentation

  • Ensure Job Captains A3 folder is up to date.
  • Responsible for issuing all drawings, specifications, documentation etc. Ensuring correct procedures are in order and issue registers up to date and accurate.
  • Write cover letters for each formal issue.
  • Monitor and ensure smooth progress for all local authority submissions.

Quality assurance

  • Ensure the operational standards are understood, adhered to and maintained by Job Captains and architects. The QMS drawing checklists are to be maintained and checked on a regular basis. A report to be issued following each check and circulated to Senior Management.
  • Ensure Job Captains are fully conversant with the relevant standards and approved relevant local authority regulations.
  • Ensure Job Captains meet agreed deadlines for documentation issue.
  • If slippage is likely to occur notify the relevant Lead in advance and agree a recovery programme.
  • Ensure that Job Captains correctly prepare the local authority submissions in accordance with the relevant local authority requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting with local authorities and expediently processing submissions. Any problems must be alerted to Senior Management.
  • Responsible for resource tracking schedules.
  • Responsible for NOC tracking schedules.

Consultant Coordination

  • Coordinate design team meetings with the relevant sub-consultants. Chair and minute the meetings with actions and pending dates.
  • Ensure drawings and documentation carefully coordinated with sub-consultants prior to submissions.
  • Ensure all sub-consultants review and agree to programme of deliverables.
  • Track drawing issues to sub consultants and their issue of information to BSBL.
  • Ensure the sub consultant's scope of work is complete at each stage in order for the Lead to certify payment.
  • Responsible for ensuring sub consultants have applied for NOC's and maintain the NOC Tracking Schedules.

Management

  • Responsible for the management of the project deliverables.
  • Responsible for communicating all aspects of project deliverables to Job Captains and Architects and to Senior Management.
  • Motivation of project team.
  • Assist Lead with overall project management.

Post Contract coordination

  • Assist with the handing over of design projects from the design teams to the post contract teams.
  • Ensure constant communication with the post contract team and advise on site related issues.
  • Review and advise on specialist sub contractors design and shop drawings.
  • Liaise with post contract team to ensure any alterations or amendments on site are as per local authority regulations.
  • Ensure issuance of relevant For Construction drawings and documents at the appropriate time to the site team and Contractor.
  • Assist the Technical Manager in monitoring lessons learnt from all projects and ensure these items are immediately fed back in to the pre and post contract teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years working experience in an Architectural Practice.
  • Degree in Architecture from a recognised international university.
  • CIAT registration preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCad and Revit.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis.
