Senior Architectural Engineer

Job Description

Wood is currently looking for a Senior Architectural Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides and supports Architectural design activities related to a specific project currently under way.

Performs The Following Tasks

Bid Preparation

1. Studies bidding documents and highlights major areas of potential future discrepancies as well as areas of potential anticipated design difficulties.
2. Evaluates and concurs on the Deliverables List as well as the manhours prepared.
3. Coordinates with Department Manager on the number of manhours considered.
4. Develops a list of clarifications that will be integrated into the Bid documents.
5. Discusses with the Department Manager the proposed list and obtains concurrence.

Design

1. Directs and evaluates the establishment of the Project Concepts and evaluates aesthetics and architectural solutions. Discusses and obtains approval on these issues from the Department Manager.
2. Supervises and approves planning, coordination & supervision of the production of all the documents for the project.
3. Interfaces and coordinates with the Company/Contractor assigned Project Manager on the Project.
4. Interfaces with the Company Project and Document Control Departments and follows up on established procedures.
5. Attends interdepartmental coordination meetings required for interfacing with other disciplines.
6. Reviews the Project DB (Design Basis) or the Project Scope, Basis of Design & Project Execution Plan (PEP) as well as all Contractor provided data. Highlights areas of conflict or potential problems in the provided documents.
7. Coordinates with all disciplines (as necessary) in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensures that other disciplines' input is incorporated.
8. Reviews Construction Specifications and Scope of Work based on input from Contractor Architectural Project Team.
9. Organizes site visits and Contractor coordination meetings with the responsible Project Manager.
10. Overviews and directs 3D presentation quality being prepared for the Projects by the Visual Presentation Team.
11. Ability to perform all architectural works and activities for projects requiring one architect.
12. Supervises Architectural materials selection, procurement, and vendors.
13. Participates in site visits and vendor/manufacturer facilities.

Quality Implementation

1. Overviews implementation of the quality procedures within the Project team members.
2. Follows up on non-compliance corrective actions and lessons learnt records and fulfills quality obligations as required.

Construction Assistance

1. Oversees preparation of datasheets and specifications as well as scope of work as required during Construction.
2. Highlights documentation received from site problems or possible conflicts with other disciplines.

Administrative Procedures

1. Keeps up with electronic and hard copies of all code and standards related to Architectural Design. Files those applicable to the Project.
2. Updates and keeps track of available libraries and documentation required for the Project as well as the software resources.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Professional Degree in Civil/Architecture.
2. 12+ years of experience.
3. Expert in IBC implementations and requirements.
4. LEED certificate is a Plus.
5. Incumbents must be open to travel to Basra, Iraq as required.
