Job Title: Senior Architectural Designer

Reports To: Principal Architect, Director of Architecture

Department: Architecture/Design

Job Overview:

The Senior Architectural Designer is responsible for leading the design and development of architectural projects from concept to completion. This role involves overseeing the creation of designs, collaborating with clients and stakeholders, and ensuring that the project aligns with design goals, client expectations, and industry standards. The Senior Architectural Designer will work closely with junior designers, project managers, and engineers to create innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing architectural solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design process for complex architectural projects, ensuring high-quality and innovative solutions.
• Develop and refine conceptual designs, including spatial layouts, material selection, and aesthetic considerations.
• Collaborate with clients to understand project requirements, goals, and vision.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, 3D models, and renderings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp).
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, accessibility standards, and other regulations.
• Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., engineers, project managers, contractors) and external consultants to integrate technical aspects into the design.
• Conduct site analysis and assessments to inform design decisions.
• Present design concepts and proposals to clients and stakeholders, addressing feedback and refining the designs as needed.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and design staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
• Oversee the preparation of project documentation, including specifications, drawings, and presentations.
• Assist with cost estimation and project budgeting, ensuring design decisions remain within financial constraints.
• Stay updated on current architectural trends, technologies, and sustainability practices.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor&aposs or Master&aposs degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on leading design teams and managing large projects.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp).
• Strong understanding of construction documentation, building codes, and regulations.
• Experience with building performance analysis and sustainability principles.
• Creativity & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve complex design challenges.
• Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to guide design teams and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to focus on the details of design, construction, and documentation to ensure quality and accuracy.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with interdisciplinary coordination, working with structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and certifications such as LEED.
• Experience working on a variety of project types, including commercial, residential, mixed-use, or institutional buildings.
• Strong presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design ideas and concepts.
• Architectural license (e.g., AIA, RA) preferred, or working toward licensure.
