Job description

Position Overview: As a Senior Accountant at Luxe Developers, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's financial activities, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and compliance with industry-specific regulations. You will collaborate with various departments to provide financial insights that support business growth and project success in real estate development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the organization.
  2. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant real estate accounting standards.
  3. Budgeting & Forecasting: Work closely with project managers and senior leadership to develop and manage budgets for real estate development projects. Monitor budget variances and provide insights into cost control and profitability.
  4. Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow projections and management to ensure proper cash planning for project funding and company operations. Manage loan draw schedules and ensure timely submissions for real estate development financing. Generate regular reports on cash flow and collection performance.
  5. Cash Collection: Manage and oversee cash collections from customers. Ensure timely collection of payments and follow up on outstanding invoices. Maintain accurate records of transactions and reconciliations.
  6. Cost Accounting: Maintain accurate cost accounting for all development projects, including cost allocations, vendor payments, and project margins. Review and approve construction draws, vendor invoices, and subcontractor payments.
  7. Tax Compliance: Ensure timely filing of all tax returns, including corporate taxes. Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all cash movements are accurately reflected in the books. Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues related to payments.
  8. Project Accounting: Set up and manage job cost tracking systems for each development project. Track project progress, report on project profitability, and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts. Coordinate and manage internal and external audits to ensure accurate financial reporting. Maintain proper documentation and records for all real estate transactions and audits.
  9. Lender & Investor Relations: Prepare financial reports and schedules required by lenders and investors, including loan compliance and performance metrics. Act as a liaison between the company and financial institutions to manage credit lines, loans, and investor communications.
  10. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with real estate regulations, including property management accounting, tenant billing, and lease agreements. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and real estate laws that may impact financial reporting.
  11. Team Management & Development: Provide leadership and guidance to junior accounting staff and support their professional development. Work with the finance team to continuously improve financial processes and internal controls.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or construction.
  3. Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and real estate accounting standards.
  4. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, Advance Excel).
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
