Job Description: Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization’s goals. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial reports, and supervising junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting and Analysis
   • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
   • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost-saving or growth.
   • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
2. General Ledger Management
   • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
   • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting
   • Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
   • Provide financial forecasts and assist in strategic planning processes.
4. Tax Compliance and Audit
   • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT filings and other statutory requirements.
   • Coordinate with auditors and prepare for annual audits.
5. Accounts Payable and Receivable
   • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
   • Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively.
6. Team Leadership and Development
   • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring their professional growth.
   • Conduct regular training sessions on financial policies and compliance.
7. Internal Controls and Compliance
   • Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
   • Review and update accounting policies and procedures as needed.
8. Collaboration with Other Departments
   • Work closely with other departments to support financial decision-making.
   • Provide guidance on financial matters related to operational activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or ACCA certification preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical and strong communication skills.
