Job Description
We are looking for an experienced SEN Teacher who can join us immediately.

Applicants must be fully qualified teachers with exceptional subject knowledge and experience.
Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 1-2 years experience as a SEN Teacher, with British curriculum school experience being an advantage.
  2. Experience in dealing with moderate ASD students.
  3. Leading and planning tasks for a group of Learning Support Assistants (LSA).
  4. Preferably with experience in a learning and nurturing environment.
  5. A certified professional teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent. (Distance or open university degrees are not accepted unless MOE equivalency is obtained). HPL (High Performance Learning) experience and Permanent Teaching License will be an added advantage. All certificates should be duly attested.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
  2. Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up-to-date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
  3. Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilise appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
  4. Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.
  5. Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  6. Teach students assigned according to their individual needs using appropriate teaching strategies that meet student needs and abilities (e.g., late-entering students, ESL, low academic ability, gifted and talented).
  7. Set and mark work. Assess, record and report on the academic development, progress and attainment of students and use assessment to ensure the curriculum meets the individual student’s needs.
  8. Display competence in using media and technology in the classroom.
  9. Promote the general progress and well-being of students and provide guidance to students on educational matters.
  10. Communicate with persons outside the school where appropriate (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
  11. Participate in appraisal and Performance Management procedures and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  12. Work alongside colleagues on the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study and pastoral arrangements.
  13. Participate in, and lead where appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes in the school. Promote good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, materials and experiences.
  14. Monitor and supervise safe and appropriate student behavior. Plan and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive behavior.
  15. Model and encourage cultural awareness and understanding and promote a love of learning.
  16. Assist in the planning and organising of school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days).
  17. Communicate and meet with parents regularly promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents regularly informed of students’ progress while respecting the confidentiality of student-related information.
  18. Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday, where the tasks require additional commitment.
  19. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  20. Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers/supervisors.
Skills:
  1. Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office
Education:
Bachelor of Education in Special Education
