North American International School is searching for a qualified Secondary English Head of Department to join our team of educators. The head of the English department, or HOD, is responsible for leading and managing the English subject area, Grades 6 - 12, and ensuring high teaching, learning, and achievement standards.

The head of the English department position at North American International School is a teaching position. In addition to department responsibilities, the English Department HOD would also be responsible for teaching a reduced schedule that may include AP Language and AP Literature. Additional employee responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing engaging, differentiated lesson plans and curricula based on the Advanced Placement curriculum as outlined by College Board and California State Standards, collaborating with teachers within the English department, providing timely and meaningful feedback on teaching practices, student assessments, and addressing student performance issues. Potential candidates should be able to teach students from varied cultural backgrounds at the Advanced Placement level. Qualified candidates with previous Advanced Placement experience and American teaching certification will be given top priority.

North American International School was established in 2007 and is now flourishing with students of around 56 different nationalities. Our aim at NAIS is to provide education as a process that leads to the attainment of the full potential of each individual studying here. We are a small school with 750 students from KG to Grade 12 and follow the US Common Core curriculum, specifically the curriculum of the state of California.
