Job description

The School Systems Administrator is required to implement, administer, support, troubleshoot, and maintain student information systems and other related school systems across the organisation.


Responsibilities:

  1. Drive the implementation of new and updated Systems.
  2. Develop an in-depth knowledge of education systems.
  3. Create and conduct routine administration and maintenance of a range of systems.
  4. Installation and configuration of software and support with integration projects.
  5. Assisting in the implementation and set up of new systems across the organization.
  6. Troubleshoot software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritising problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  7. Upkeep of documentation and technical specifications regarding systems.
  8. Assist in the setup/creation and carry-through of end-user helpdesk support efforts, ensuring all related application issues are resolved promptly with minimal disruption.
  9. Perform routine/scheduled audits of systems, including coordinating relevant backups.
  10. Ensure new system setups conform to specified policies.
  11. Configuration and upgrading of systems (on-prem and cloud-hosted).
  12. Train and assist school personnel in utilising systems regarding data entry, retrieval, storage, security, manipulation, reporting, and disposal.
  13. Set up user accounts and assign correct access permissions.
  14. Support end users (password reset, lock/unlock accounts, etc.).
  15. Implement group policies (access and permissions) for user accounts.
  16. Update systems with new releases, patches, and upgrades.
  17. Support and resolve software and application issues.
  18. Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and document system issues.
  19. Monitor system performance.
  20. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or similar.
  2. At least three years of experience managing education systems.
  3. Must have experience managing school information systems, such as iSAMs, Engage, PowerSchool, etc.
  4. Experience setting up & implementing new software in schools is advantageous.
  5. Working knowledge of school information systems.
  6. Strong customer service skills.
  7. Problem-solving abilities.
  8. Multi-tasking skills.
