Overview of the role

To establish rapport and credibility in assisting customers to purchase the company’s product range while maintaining the company’s standard of merchandising and ensuring stock availability to achieve sales targets set by the company.

What you will do

  1. Ensure our guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile. Meet and serve our guests showing empathy and care, willing to listen and support them with an attitude based on the IKEA values.
  2. Lead by example and be a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all contact with our guests, giving them a good reason to return again and again.
  3. Look at our store through the eyes of our customers. Have a daily dialogue with our guests to get continuous feedback about their experiences and to learn more about their needs and wants, then act based on their input.
  4. Be understanding and sensitive in meeting diverse customers’ needs by initiating and developing effective ways of building relationships with customers, thereby establishing trust and confidence.
  5. Determine customers’ requirements to prepare a pro forma invoice.
  6. Maintain contact and advise customers on news or recently received items of interest, as well as follow up on quotations sent in an effort to convert to actual sales.
  7. Empower and encourage the team to take immediate action to meet the needs of guests and provide input on how to continuously improve our meetings with them.
  8. Ensure our guests have a great shopping experience throughout the day.
  9. Promote the sales of products by spotting and seizing sales opportunities, offering alternative solutions to problems, and suggesting add-on sales to achieve the established sales target.
  10. Suggest means of improving sales to the supervisor and determine “slow moving” or “non-selling” items to suggest sales action.
  11. Maintain a full display of products via merchandising methods as laid down by the company.
  12. Be an ‘expert’ on the product range within HFB.
  13. Be aware of developments in the local market by being attentive to information given by customers; be aware of advertising and promotions in the media and make scheduled market visits to maintain the company’s competitive advantage and to properly advise customers.
  14. Stay up to date with changes in the company’s product range such as new items or changes in existing items; keep the Sales Manager informed of any customer’s problems/comments on the product range and/or any gaps in the range.
  15. Conduct a daily detailed inspection of the assigned area to review the availability and positioning of price labels, product information tags, and other communication media.
  16. Review daily stock levels on all products in the assigned area and recommend orders to the Shopkeeper.
  17. Coordinate with the Procurement Executive for information pertaining to stocks in the assigned area.

Required skills to be successful

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Ability to build working relationships.
  3. Proficiency in speaking and understanding English and Arabic.

  2. 3 to 5 years in a similar role.
