Safety Officer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safety Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and policies related to machinery operation, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and industry-specific regulations.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses of machinery and equipment to identify potential safety hazards, assess associated risks, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the likelihood of accidents or injuries.
• Safety Procedures: Develop, implement, and review safety procedures, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the safe operation, maintenance, and servicing of machinery, ensuring that they are communicated effectively to relevant personnel.
• Training and Education: Provide training and educational programs to employees, contractors, and subcontractors on safe machinery operation practices, equipment-specific safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and audits of machinery, equipment, and work areas to identify potential safety hazards, ensure compliance with safety standards, and address any issues or deficiencies promptly.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate machinery-related incidents, accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes, analyze contributing factors, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a strong safety culture by fostering awareness, accountability, and participation among employees through safety meetings, toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and recognition programs.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for machinery-related incidents, including evacuation plans, first aid protocols, and coordination with emergency services.
• Safety Equipment: Assess, select, and ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment, guarding devices, and engineering controls to protect workers from machinery-related hazards.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to machinery safety activities, including inspection reports, incident reports, training records, and safety performance metrics.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates MUST be immediately available and currently based in the UAE.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, OHST, CHST) is a plus.
• Proven experience in safety management and machinery operation compliance.
