Job Title: Safety Supervisor

Job Description:

Supervise the duties related to Health & Safety activities conducted by Safety Technicians, including:

  1. Inspection and maintenance of all safety and fire-fighting equipment in the plant on a routine basis.
  2. Worksite/Project site inspection and stand-by duties.
  3. Ensuring appropriate waste management practices are followed and that necessary industrial hygiene is maintained.
  4. Effective implementation of the Work Permit System and Work Management System (WMS).
  5. Periodic inspection and auditing to ensure compliance with client HSE standards for Project activities, mainly Operation Safety (OS) standards.
  6. Reporting Site Safety Inspection/Audit findings to management and ensuring closeout of the actions.
  7. Coordinating with the Contractor Safety team and ensuring effective and sufficient safety team mobilization by the Contractor.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Technical Diploma or Secondary (12 years) education or equivalent.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in Safety and Fire-fighting in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical installations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good interpersonal and coordination skills.
  • Good attention to detail, analytical, and decision-making ability.
  • Valid UAE Driving License.

Key Accountabilities:

Job Specific Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure Technician Safety coverage with respect to plant operation work demands and organizing the workforce for day/night shifts and emergencies.
  2. Supervise and maintain records for all inventories of safety and fire-fighting equipment to ensure operational serviceability.
  3. Provide back-up support in emergencies to Turnaround Contractors, Plant Operations Division, and Das Island Fire Service.
  4. Ensure Project Contractor provides all provisions for standby facilities for hot work, naked flame work, and mandatory personal safety equipment.
  5. Supervise and maintain a record of safety inspections for Project activities.
  6. Carry out patrolling of radiography work-sites and gas testing to ensure safety.
  7. Coordinate with Learning and Development Department and prepare training equipment for training sessions.
  8. Conduct fire-fighting equipment inspections, housekeeping, and PPE surveys.
  9. Direct Technician Safety in specialized subjects as per HSE Manuals.
  10. Safeguard own Health and Safety, as well as that of fellow employees.
  11. Take action to intervene and stop any unsafe activity or non-compliance with HSE requirements.

  1. Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  2. Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills.
  3. Provide input for preparation of the Department/Section budgets.
  4. Investigate and highlight any significant variances.
  5. Implement approved Department/Section policies and procedures.
  6. Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
  7. Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives.
  8. Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
  9. Comply with relevant HSE policies and participate in Emergency Response duties.
  10. Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports.

Communications & Working Relationships:

Internal: Daily contact with client (Das Island - LNG Plant Operations and Maintenance Divisions) and Contractor Personnel.

External: Daily contact with Das Island Fire & Rescue Services and contractor’s HSE focal points.
