Job Description:
Supervise the duties related to Health & Safety activities conducted by Safety Technicians, including:
- Inspection and maintenance of all safety and fire-fighting equipment in the plant on a routine basis.
- Worksite/Project site inspection and stand-by duties.
- Ensuring appropriate waste management practices are followed and that necessary industrial hygiene is maintained.
- Effective implementation of the Work Permit System and Work Management System (WMS).
- Periodic inspection and auditing to ensure compliance with client HSE standards for Project activities, mainly Operation Safety (OS) standards.
- Reporting Site Safety Inspection/Audit findings to management and ensuring closeout of the actions.
- Coordinating with the Contractor Safety team and ensuring effective and sufficient safety team mobilization by the Contractor.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- Technical Diploma or Secondary (12 years) education or equivalent.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills:
- 5 years of experience in Safety and Fire-fighting in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical installations.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Good interpersonal and coordination skills.
- Good attention to detail, analytical, and decision-making ability.
- Valid UAE Driving License.
Key Accountabilities:
Job Specific Accountabilities:
- Ensure Technician Safety coverage with respect to plant operation work demands and organizing the workforce for day/night shifts and emergencies.
- Supervise and maintain records for all inventories of safety and fire-fighting equipment to ensure operational serviceability.
- Provide back-up support in emergencies to Turnaround Contractors, Plant Operations Division, and Das Island Fire Service.
- Ensure Project Contractor provides all provisions for standby facilities for hot work, naked flame work, and mandatory personal safety equipment.
- Supervise and maintain a record of safety inspections for Project activities.
- Carry out patrolling of radiography work-sites and gas testing to ensure safety.
- Coordinate with Learning and Development Department and prepare training equipment for training sessions.
- Conduct fire-fighting equipment inspections, housekeeping, and PPE surveys.
- Direct Technician Safety in specialized subjects as per HSE Manuals.
- Safeguard own Health and Safety, as well as that of fellow employees.
- Take action to intervene and stop any unsafe activity or non-compliance with HSE requirements.

- Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills.
- Provide input for preparation of the Department/Section budgets.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances.
- Implement approved Department/Section policies and procedures.
- Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
- Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency.
- Comply with relevant HSE policies and participate in Emergency Response duties.
- Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports.
Communications & Working Relationships:
Internal: Daily contact with client (Das Island - LNG Plant Operations and Maintenance Divisions) and Contractor Personnel.
External: Daily contact with Das Island Fire & Rescue Services and contractor’s HSE focal points.
