Job description

Robotic Welding Machine Engineer (Factory Operations) NAFFCO FZCO

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Robotic Welding Machine Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotic welding systems, including design, installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of robotic welding machines. The position requires a deep understanding of robotic automation, welding processes, and advanced manufacturing systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and quality of robotic welding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Robotic System Design & Integration: Design, configure, and implement robotic welding systems for various production lines. Work closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to select the appropriate robots, welding equipment, and tooling for specific applications. Integrate robotic welding cells into existing production lines, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  2. Programming & Optimization: Program robotic welding machines to perform various welding operations (e.g., MIG, TIG, spot welding). Use offline programming tools to create efficient and optimized welding paths for robots. Continuously analyze welding parameters and adjust robot programming to improve quality, speed, and efficiency. Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues promptly.
  3. Machine Setup & Calibration: Set up and calibrate robotic welding systems, ensuring all hardware and software components are functioning correctly. Ensure welding parameters such as voltage, amperage, travel speed, and gas flow are calibrated for optimal results. Install and configure peripheral equipment like welding torches, positioners, fixtures, and safety systems.
  4. Troubleshooting & Maintenance:Perform regular maintenance and inspections of robotic welding machines to ensure smooth operation. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues affecting the robot or welding equipment. Proactively identify potential problems and perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide technical guidance on proper machine operation.
  5. Quality Control & Improvement: Monitor the output of robotic welding systems to ensure product quality meets specifications and standards. Implement corrective actions as needed to address welding defects such as porosity, distortion, or undercutting. Work with quality control teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to weld integrity, including dimensional accuracy and appearance. Recommend process improvements to enhance welding quality, reduce defects, and improve overall productivity.
  6. Training & Support:Provide training and guidance to production staff on the operation and maintenance of robotic welding systems. Offer technical support to the production team in troubleshooting and resolving daily welding issues. Develop and maintain documentation for machine setups, programs, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotic welding technology and automation. Propose and implement improvements to enhance welding speed, cost-effectiveness, and product quality. Participate in the development and testing of new welding techniques, robotic software, and automation systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience working with robotic welding systems (2+ years preferred).
  • Proficiency in programming robotic welding machines.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes such as MIG, TIG, spot welding, and laser welding.
  • Familiarity with welding materials, joint designs, and welding codes/standards.
  • Experience with offline programming software and CAD/CAM systems for robotic welding.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
  • Knowledge of automation and PLC programming (preferred).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including lifting heavy equipment and tools.
  • Willingness to work with machinery, robotic arms, and other industrial tools.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods while performing hands-on tasks.
