Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for Middle mile and Last mile Transportation – Transportation and Financial Performance, Quality, HSSE and Sustainability

  • Coordinate day to day operations and ensure compliance to maintain and improve SLAs.
  • Manage vendors for performance and compliances.
  • Work towards reduction in DEPS and have clear visibility on any delays.
  • Work with drivers to ensure safety and compliance aspects.

2. Conceptualize framework and implement regular review mechanism with vendors. Ensure timely payment of vendors and high satisfaction levels.

  • Develop new vendor selection guidelines.
  • Develop vendor rating program and ensure support vendor to improve themselves.
  • Improve utilization of vehicles to provide best cost.
  • Review and induct new vendors to reduce the price and improve quality of distribution.
  • Ensure all vendors are using transportation management system and update necessary information in system. This should be with minimum intervention and should encompass complete life cycle of the vendors.

3. Improve logistics quality, compliance and sustainability in transportation.

  • Improve logistics quality by reducing damages, pilferage etc.
  • Develop compliances for drivers and ensure its measured.
  • Comply land of the law for transportation. No shipment should move without required or incorrect documents.
  • Monitor and measure accidents, near miss or anything which could have impacted human or property. Follow company guidelines to monitor and report and minimize in future.

4. Overall responsible for Transportation performance and cost. Ensure no service failure and best cost.

  • Ensure monthly and quarterly benchmarking of rates on the lanes we are operating with competitors / similar customers we are working on.
  • Provide timely rates for new lanes/solutions for commercials.
  • Work with customers to minimize origin and destination detention.
  • Help to minimize empty run of own fleet.
  • Identify areas of potential savings by optimizing operations.

5. Able to develop part load network develop capability to deliver.

6. Build systems, process, team and controls to manage part load business and implement the plan.

7. Able to conceptualize, execute and monitor part load service by dedicated truck for the customers and take advantage of synergies.

8. Develop team and be a mentor to warehouse managers to understand transportation operations.


Competencies

  • 8+ years of Warehousing and transportation Operations, Implementation and Customer Management Experience.
  • Able to motivate team and drive towards common goal.
  • Able to conceptualize system integration and ensure physical processes are matched with system processes.
  • Understanding of transportation market.
  • Should have worked / developed part load network - Technical & Behavioral.


Skills Required :

  • Strong excel and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of TMS and Routing tools.
  • Understanding of pricing for part load.
  • Understanding of transportation market.
