Description:

The resident engineer will be responsible for overseeing the progress of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. This role will require extensive on-site presence and coordination with various stakeholders during the entire construction process.

This role will be assigned in Abu Dhabi.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of construction activities on-site, including material delivery, contractor schedules, labor resources, and equipment usage.
  2. Review design proposals, work programs, material submittals, method statements, shop drawings, payments, variation orders, and claims.
  3. Manage site supervision staff during construction, ensuring adherence to contract specifications.
  4. Ensure all contractors, subcontractors, and workers adhere to project schedules, quality, and safety standards.
  5. Work closely with designers and architects to ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.
  6. Regularly review progress and status reports, advising on adjustments and changes to meet project requirements.
  7. Provide updates to the client and project team on project status, costs, and progress, requesting approvals or change orders as necessary.
  8. Collaborate with project contractors to recommend innovative solutions that improve project quality and reduce costs.
  9. Prepare and submit periodic project reports summarizing progress, schedules, and goals to the management team.
  10. Collaborate with other resident engineers on coordinating schedules, resources, and finding solutions.
  11. Monitor the quality of materials and workmanship installed, operated, and maintained.
  12. Maintain the Resident Engineer’s daily diary and reports by subordinates, liaising with clients, project management, and contractors to resolve project issues.
  13. Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
  14. Familiarity with conditions of contract and quality assurance.
  15. Liaise with clients, governmental organizations, and other consultants/contractors.
  16. Adhere to and enforce internal company processes and policies such as business and contracting rules.
  17. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication and negotiating skills.
  18. Ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  1. Work in conjunction with engineers to solve project design problems and perform basic design calculations as required.
  2. Conduct technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
  3. Liaise with clients, contractors, supervision teams, and engineering to facilitate task and project completion.
  4. Maintain good communication.

Client Service Management:

  1. Serve as internal and external client infrastructure liaison.
  2. Build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.
  3. Experience in utility diversions and management.

Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work safely.

Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.

Design for safety, i.e., Construction Design Management.

Perform other duties as requested by the Construction Manager.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with 12 years of experience in drainage, water network, and miscellaneous projects.
  • Candidates must have PMP certifications and be proficient in PRIMAVERA and MS OFFICE.
  • Candidates must have previous experience dealing with construction managers, site teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience with SWS Infra & Water Recycling Projects is an advantage.
