Reservations Agent

About The Job

An opportunity has arisen for a Reservations Agent role to join the Rooms Reservations Team at Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort & Spa Family.

The main purpose of this position is to maximize rooms revenue and profit through pro-active selling techniques and referral across the resort.

Duties And Responsibilities Of This Role

1. Have full and up-to-date knowledge of the hotel products and services.
2. Ensure all telephone calls are handled politely and efficiently, ascertaining and accurately meeting the caller’s needs using a client-oriented approach.
3. Check arrival reports: 48 hours prior to arrival and 5 days prior to arrival.
4. Handle all reservations through different channels (via email, fax, telephone, website) efficiently. Prepare Pro Forma invoices as requested by accounts.
5. Actively participate in maximizing revenue through up-selling.
6. Follow up on non-guaranteed and waitlisted bookings.
7. Handle no-shows and cancellations efficiently.
8. Maximize selling opportunities by adding customer value at every opportunity.
9. Handle complaints promptly and professionally, demonstrating genuine care and concern under the supervision of the Manager on Shift.
10. Liaise with the Management and team in order to ensure the smooth operation of Revenue processes and functions within the individual unit covered.
11. Prepare, update, and file all correspondence relating to room sales.
12. Be actively motivated in cluster sales projects, including FAM trips and client evenings/lunches.
13. Assist with guest visa inquiries.
14. Handle Group Reservations by communicating with the Events/Sales Department.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

1. Previous experience in the form of cross-training or internships in reservations, revenue, or sales department.
2. Good knowledge of Opera PMS.
3. Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
4. Ability to handle shift responsibilities in the absence of the reservation’s coordinator and assist newly joined colleagues with the job duties of a Room Reservations Sales Agent.
5. A minimum of 1 year work experience in a luxury hotel.
