Fiker Institute is an interdisciplinary think tank based in Dubai, dedicated to testing ideas, debating constructs, and advancing intellectual discourse. The institute's main areas of focus include global governance, foreign policy, neocolonialism, and culture.

Role

This is a full-time on-site role for a Researcher - International Affairs at Fiker Institute. The Researcher (Associate/Analyst) will be responsible for policy development, policy research, utilizing analytical skills, effective communication, and conducting research in the areas of global governance, foreign policy, international affairs, and public policy.

Job Description

  1. Developing and preparing in-depth analyses of assigned issues at the national, regional, and global levels. Formulating policy and issue briefs related to recommendations on assigned programs. Authoring papers and briefing materials in diverse areas of international and global affairs.
  2. Planning, organizing, and executing high-profile events, conferences, and forums related to international affairs and culture.
  3. Designing and developing event programs that align with the organization's objectives, covering a wide range of topics within international relations, such as diplomacy, global governance, conflict resolution, human rights, and sustainable development.
  4. Identifying and inviting renowned experts, diplomats, policymakers, academics, and practitioners as speakers and panelists. Coordinating with invited speakers and participants to ensure their engagement and smooth participation in the events.
  5. Preparing and managing event budgets, ensuring cost-effective planning and utilization of available resources. Monitoring expenses, negotiating contracts, and seeking sponsorship opportunities to maximize financial support for events.
  6. Researching and authoring regular publications for the different research programmes within the institute, and conducting research for assigned client projects throughout the year.
  7. Responsible for researching, proofreading, and publishing both traditional and online media; including coordination and management of graphic design inputs from the team.
  8. Conducting international relations research and studying global trends, foresight analysis, and regional dynamics.
  9. Any additional task within research, programming, strategy development, editorial, editing, and publication realms as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, History, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  2. Management experience: Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and executing projects, preferably in the field of international relations. Experience in managing high-profile conferences, forums, or diplomatic events is highly desirable.
  3. Knowledge of international relations: Strong understanding of global affairs, international politics, diplomacy, and major issues in international relations.
  4. Communication and coordination skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders, including high-level officials, diplomats, and subject matter experts.
  5. Networking and relationship building: Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including diplomatic missions, international organizations, academic institutions, and industry partners.
