Research Assistant - Private Equity

Transition Investment Lab is seeking a Research Assistant for an exciting project focused on Private Equity (PE). This role involves analyzing PE funds, exploring their structures, performance, and the dynamics of their Limited Partners (LPs), and supporting the development of a research paper for TIL’s annual report. This is an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into private equity, work directly with industry experts, and contribute to delivering a high-quality, impactful research output.

Project Overview

As a research assistant, you’ll contribute to the following:

1. Examine and consolidate data on Private Equity funds, including characteristics like size, strategy, and regional focus.
2. Create visualizations (e.g., charts or graphs) to highlight trends and patterns in fund evolution over time.
3. Investigate the roles and influence of various types of Limited Partners in these funds, including their commitments and impact on performance.
4. Compare fund performance across different LP types, using statistical or econometric methods to uncover insights.

Required Skills

Must-Have:

1. Solid understanding of Private Equity fund structures, including LP-GP relationships and performance metrics.
2. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in financial analysis and econometrics.
3. Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel or Python.

Nice-to-Have:

1. Familiarity with financial datasets or databases (e.g., Preqin).
2. Interest in private equity and institutional investment trends.
3. Excellent writing skills, as you’ll assist in drafting the research paper.
