We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Reliability Engineer to lead efforts in enhancing the reliability, availability, and maintainability of equipment and systems across onshore and offshore oil and gas operations. This role involves applying advanced reliability engineering techniques to identify and mitigate potential failures, optimize maintenance strategies, and improve asset performance. The ideal candidate will develop and implement reliability improvement programs, analyze equipment performance data, and provide technical expertise to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations. This critical position plays a key role in driving operational excellence and minimizing downtime while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead initiatives to enhance the reliability, availability, and maintainability of equipment and systems across onshore and offshore oil and gas operations.
Apply advanced reliability engineering techniques, including FMEA and RCA, to identify and mitigate potential equipment failures.
Develop and implement comprehensive reliability improvement programs to optimize maintenance strategies and extend equipment life.
Analyse equipment performance data and reliability metrics to identify trends, assess risks, and propose targeted improvements.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure the effective implementation of reliability-focused maintenance practices, such as CBM and PdM.
Utilize reliability modelling tools and software (Weibull Analysis, Reliability Block Diagrams) to simulate and optimize system performance.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, including API, ISO 14224, and IEC 60300, while establishing processes to exceed regulatory requirements.
Conduct reliability assessments during the design phase of new projects to influence equipment selection and system configurations.
Mentor and guide multidisciplinary teams in reliability engineering principles, fostering a culture of proactive asset management.
Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations for stakeholders, highlighting reliability performance improvements and future opportunities.
Drive innovation by integrating emerging technologies, such as digital twins and IoT-based monitoring, to enhance reliability and predictive capabilities.
Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical expertise and support during audits, inspections, and technical reviews.
Lead root cause investigations for major failures, ensuring effective resolution and knowledge transfer to prevent recurrence.
Develop and monitor key reliability performance indicators (KPIs) to track improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Play a pivotal role in achieving operational excellence by minimizing downtime, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors / Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Relevant certifications in reliability engineering, such as CRE, CMRP, or RCM Certification, are strongly preferred.
Additional certifications in process safety (HAZOP Leader, SIL Assessment), asset management (IAM Certification), or project management (PMP) are advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum 10+ years of experience in reliability engineering within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, focusing on optimizing equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability.
Proven experience in conducting FMEA, RCA, and risk-based maintenance assessments.
Extensive experience in developing and implementing CBM and PdM strategies.
Proficiency in using advanced reliability modelling tools such as Weibull Analysis, RBD, and other statistical tools for reliability prediction and performance optimization.
Experience in integrating digital technologies, such as IoT-based monitoring and digital twins, to enhance predictive maintenance capabilities.
Expertise in reliability engineering principles, including MTBF, failure rate analysis, and lifecycle cost analysis.
Proficiency in reliability software tools such as ReliaSoft, RAM Analysis, or Reliability Workbench.
Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems, including CMMS platforms like SAP PM or Maximo.
In-depth understanding of industry standards, such as API, ISO 14224, and IEC 60300, and their application in reliability programs.
Knowledge of asset management frameworks, such as ISO 55001, and their integration into reliability strategies.
Hands-on experience with process safety evaluations, including HAZOP and SIL assessments, in reliability-critical systems.
Demonstrated success in preparing detailed technical reports, feasibility studies, and reliability improvement plans for stakeholders.
Skills:
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to identify failure modes and implement targeted solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical findings to stakeholders and prepare detailed reports.
Strong programming skills using Python (Numpy/SciPy, Pandas and Matplotlib, Jupyter etc.) and/or Excel VBA/PowerBI is highly preferable.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide multidisciplinary teams in reliability principles and best practices.
