General Purpose of Role
Develop and lead the operation, maintenance and digital transformation of the construction and completions capability within the region. Provide functional leadership and support for current and future project opportunities, and to the relevant Project teams, to ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget and in accordance with contractual obligations and delivered safely, to Worley, and its clients. Plans and defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit leadership in all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues and foster a Safety Culture among the construction management team.
- Proactively promote Worley’s values and leadership principles within the construction management team: Create meaning, Embrace possibilities and Deliver what matters.
- Assess the regions EPCM/EPC capabilities and development and implementation of a region construction strategy and business plan.
- Facilitate and manage overall construction management strategies by:
- Preparation of proposals and bids for Construction as well as input to TIC estimates.
- Participating in the (early) project development/input of construction and completions experience into design, schedule development, preliminary execution and contract planning and cost estimating.
- Drive and implement Construction driven engineering methodologies and setup of Advanced Work Packaging principles.
- Define digitalisation roadmap for Construction and align with support disciplines (engineering, project services, supply chain) to ensure integrated solution.
- Oversee the estimates, budgets and execution plans for construction management.
- Implement and maintain construction and completions management work processes and ensure capability in the use of these systems at the Project.
- Lead Project Construction Management Team, to include all construction and completions activities.
- Be responsible for evaluation of Contractors capability and tracking contractor resources and productivity factors.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and take responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction for construction and completions activities within the region.
- Manage capability and completions personnel across the region, including:
- Responsibility for recruitment and retention,
- Performance Management,
- Training and career development of construction and completion.
- Proactively initiate and attract resources to build Construction capability and leverage off construction assignments and relationships to build new businesses.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 20+ years relevant experience in large EPC (M) Projects with significant project management experience.
- Recognised Oil & Gas discipline background.
- Excellent people management skills such as leadership, team, interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills.
- Must be able to build, motivate, develop and manage an effective team.
- Excellent management skills including the ability to plan, set goals; and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedules and cost.
- Demonstrate behaviour and business practices commensurate with a culture of world’s best health, safety and environmental performance.
- Expert understanding of broader systems, processes and tools related to construction and the interfaces to all the support functions.
- Able to make difficult decisions and lead and manage others in changing business conditions.
- Effectively communicate and present complex proposals and reports to senior level management. Ability to persuade and influence others. Participative management style with a cooperative team approach.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects through others; Works frequently with location and regional management on significant matters influencing the business results.
