The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming shipments of goods or materials. They ensure accurate inventory records, inspect items for quality and quantity, and collaborate with other departments to process deliveries. The Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining an efficient flow of goods into the organization and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Receive and inspect incoming shipments of goods, verifying the accuracy of quantity, quality, and documentation.
Document and record receipt of goods in the inventory management system, accurately updating inventory records.
Check items for damages, defects, or discrepancies and report any issues to the appropriate departments.
Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to resolve any shipment-related issues or delays.
Collaborate with the purchasing and accounting departments to process shipment documentation, invoices, and payments.
Organize and maintain the receiving area, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and compliance with safety regulations.
Assist in inventory control activities, including cycle counts, stock taking, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
Communicate and coordinate with other departments, such as warehouse, production, and sales, to prioritize and expedite delivery of received goods.
Implement and improve receiving procedures and protocols to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
Stay informed about industry trends, supplier capabilities, and product specifications to ensure effective handling of incoming shipments.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a Receiving Clerk or similar role, preferably in a warehouse or distribution setting.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documenting and recording inventory.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient computer skills, including experience with inventory management systems.
