Overall Purpose of The Job: To ensure Technical policies and procedures are consistently applied across their assigned vessels.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

1. Safety: Safety is our first priority and the Fleet Superintendent has, in cooperation with the Fleet Manager, the authority and accountability for taking necessary decisions that ensure constant safe operation and that everybody comes home safe and that we protect the environment.
2. Customer: The Fleet Superintendent is responsible for delivery of technical management service to the Customer, ensuring that the Customer fully benefits from the operational performance of his/her ship.
3. Ownership: Own the operation of the vessels managing them to the highest safety standards, effectively and efficiently in the provision of management services required under the Management Agreement and VMS.
4. Leadership: Authorise selection process of Senior Officers for assigned Vessels and conduct Senior Officer Performance Appraisals in accordance with VMS procedures.
5. Client: Serve as the first contact point for the assigned vessels and liaise with respective Clients, providing timely & accurate reports.
6. Monitor: Monitor vessel performance trends and implement timely remedial actions where necessary.
7. Report Issues: Ensure that any issues affecting safety, environmental or operational performance are reported in time.
8. Planning: Plan Dry Dock, Vacation, Ships inspections and other absences with your Fleet Manager.
9. Quality: Prepare vessels for inspection/audit and ensure all third-party inspections are passed.
10. Reporting: Advocate for ShipSure and ensure it is properly utilised within the fleet cell.
11. Finance: Work with relevant members of the Fleet Cell to co-ordinate all information required for the preparation of the vessels’ running cost budget.
12. Day to Day: Discuss with Ships’ Command the work plan and other issues of concern.

Essential Requirements:

• Recognised Engineering or Naval Architecture qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
• Good communication (oral and written) and English language skills.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
• Good planning and organisational skills.
• An ability to develop creative and effective solutions to problems.
• 2 years’ experience as a senior shipboard officer on relevant ship type.
• Previous experience as a Fleet Superintendent or in a Senior Engineering/Naval Architecture position in the Marine Industry.
• Member of IMarEST and Engineering Council registration or equivalent recognised professional registration.
• Basic financial understanding and some experience in administering budgets.
