Our client seeks an innovative Product Development Engineer to transform breakthrough ideas into impactful technologies. You'll build innovative products from scratch and help shape the future of sustainable water and climate solutions.

Role Overview

As a Product Development Engineer, you'll be hands-on in developing cutting-edge atmospheric water harvesting technology. You'll drive innovation and develop new concepts, turning breakthrough ideas into real-world applications. This position is perfect for a practical, R&D-driven engineer who excels at designing, prototyping, and optimizing high-performance products. You'll conduct research, apply mechanical and thermal engineering principles, and contribute to the entire product development process.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology Innovation & R&D: Drive research and development of new concepts, materials, and technologies for atmospheric water harvesting and energy-efficient dehumidification.
2. System & Product Development: Lead end-to-end development from concept to functional prototypes, ensuring performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
3. Mechanical & Thermal Engineering: Apply fundamental engineering principles to design and optimize systems, solving complex heat and mass transfer challenges.
4. Prototyping & Testing: Build, test, and refine prototypes, analyzing data to improve performance and reliability.
5. Documentation & IP Filing: Maintain detailed records of R&D progress, experimental results, and technical findings, including writing for intellectual property and patent filing.

Required Qualifications

1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
2. 5+ years of product development experience, particularly in climate tech, HVAC, thermal systems, or water harvesting technologies.
3. Proven ability to take products from concept to prototype and ideally toward commercialization.
4. Experience designing and optimizing heat exchangers, thermal systems, or dehumidification units.
5. Familiarity with MOFs, COFs, or other porous materials and their application in sorption processes.
6. Knowledge of heat pumps, adsorption/desorption cycles, and energy-efficient system design.
7. Experience with Direct Air Capture (DAC) or carbon capture technologies is a plus.
8. Proficiency in prototyping methods and iterative design.
9. Simulation experience using CFD, ANSYS, or COMSOL is highly desirable.
10. Independent, self-directed work style with passion for innovation and sustainability.
11. Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to collaborate in a dynamic startup environment.
