Job Description

1. Follows established procedures and guidelines to check, test and inspect raw materials, goods in process, and finished goods.
2. Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
3. Conducts and develops tests, records results, and prepares technical reports to ensure conformity to specifications.
4. Requires daily interaction with Production personnel, Engineering, Materials, and Manufacturing management.
5. Performs in-process inspection.
6. Inspects work pieces at the beginning and throughout production run to ensure proper tolerances.
7. Ensures that all responsibilities and functions are performed in accordance with company policy and procedures and meet required quality standards.
8. Utilizes Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies for measuring and controlling quality during the manufacturing process.
9. Demonstrates the ability to effectively use all necessary measuring tools in order to validate conformance (micrometers, calipers, pH, thermometer, NIR).
10. Reviews and disposes of suspect/non-conforming material and communicates with QA team members/suppliers about defects.
11. Performs basic preventative maintenance to equipment and measurement calibration.
12. Has the ability to solve workplace problems.
13. Conducts employee training in low-risk areas.
14. Participates on quality improvement teams.
15. Reads and understands SOPs to recognize specifications.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in food or science related field.

2 years experience in the food industry.
