Job Description

Context:
Veolia Gulf Water Services LLC (VGWS) is the entity which centralizes all the projects in the United Arab Emirates. It is a dual purpose business, hosting the HQ of the United Arab Emirates as well as managing two Operations and Management Contracts located in Warsan and Jebel Ali, UAE.

Position Summary:
The QHSE Director will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of processes. You will support the different entities in the UAE in implementing, controlling and ensuring the effectiveness of the Quality Health Safety, and Environment Management System for the plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Developing, implementing and maintaining quality, health, safety and environmental systems within legal guidelines and standards;
  2. Deploy Veolia HSE guidelines, tools and programs as per regional guidance;
  3. Implement and follow up the country HSE performance plan;
  4. Make sure all the plants are compliant with legislation and regulatory requirements;
  5. Advises others regarding QHSE plans, rules and procedures;
  6. Establish action plans that you will communicate to the teams;
  7. Develop and maintain procedures to improve QHSE performance and competence;
  8. Establish objectives and action plans to achieve QHSE results;
  9. Manage and take part in the internal and external QHSE Audits;
  10. Implement procedures to control and audit QHSE processes and systems;
  11. Conduct review of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment with team(s);
  12. Manage and follow up the country incidents and accidents including the follow up of the preventive and corrective plans;
  13. Review and assist team(s) upon investigation of accident(s)/incident(s) and ensure its follow-up;
  14. Prepare reports on QHSE performance and present them to Executive committee and stakeholders, when requested;
  15. Perform follow-up meetings with QHSE team from the different plants;
  16. Establish an audit program to be performed annually for the different operations across the region including subcontractors;
  17. Conduct QHSE related training and develop training and awareness plans for QHSE requirements;
  18. Provide support for the necessary audit processes related to technical topics;
  19. Provide advice and information to other departments and members of the company on QHSE issues;
  20. Drive and assist HSE Teams on the different projects;
  21. Perform HSE evaluation of new Contracts when necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. General requirement: 10 years minimum experience as HSE Manager/Director in Waste, Water, Energy, Oil & Gas or environment industry including 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level or 5 years’ experience in the HSE Department within Veolia.
  2. Candidates must have Quality related experience.

Education Requirements:
Internationally recognized certification in HSE.

Languages required:
Fluent in English. Arabic or Hindi or French is a plus.
