Job Responsibilities
Conduct thorough inspections of welding work to ensure compliance with specified standards and codes, identifying defects and non-conformance promptly.
Review welding procedures and specifications to verify that they are adhered to during the welding process, ensuring quality control from start to finish.
Document inspection findings accurately and prepare detailed reports that highlight compliance levels, defects, and recommendations for corrective actions.
Collaborate closely with welding teams to provide immediate feedback and guidance, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement on-site.
Maintain an organized and up-to-date record of inspection activities, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Participate in regular safety meetings and audits to promote a safe working environment, ensuring safety protocols are followed during inspection processes.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and changes in welding codes and standards to enhance inspection practices and maintain professional expertise.
Engage in root cause analysis for welding defects, collaborating with engineering teams to implement effective corrective measures and prevent recurrence.
Should be able to manage workshop environment.
Desired Candidate Profile
Physical ability to perform inspections in various environmental conditions and to handle inspection equipment safely is necessary.
Must and should have workshop experience.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with teams and facilitating constructive feedback sessions.
Excellent problem-solving skills are required to identify defects and recommend effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
Proficiency in technical documentation, including welding procedures and inspection reports, is expected for clear communication.
A strong understanding of industry standards, including AWS, ASME, and API, is crucial for maintaining compliance and quality.
Experience in sectors like oil and gas, construction, or manufacturing is essential, showcasing versatility across different environments.
Certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualifications are highly desirable.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in welding inspection within industrial settings, demonstrating a deep understanding of various welding processes.
