As a professional in your role, your responsibilities and essential job functions will include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise Public Areas: Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of all public spaces (lobby, corridors, restrooms, stairways, etc.).
  • Daily Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met in all public areas.
  • Task Assignment: Coordinate and assign tasks to public area attendants, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report any maintenance issues in public areas, and follow up on resolutions.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to hotel policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment, requesting replenishments as necessary.
  • Training: Assist in training new staff on cleaning procedures and hotel expectations.
  • Guest Relations: Handle guest complaints or concerns related to public areas in a professional and timely manner.
  • Safety: Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Departmental Support: Assist the Housekeeping Manager in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
  • Staffing: Monitor attendance and assist with scheduling to maintain optimal staffing levels.

Ideally, you should possess some or all the following qualifications and experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in Hospitality Management or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housekeeping or public area maintenance, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Keen attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to resolve guest complaints professionally.
    • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
