Job Purpose:

  • The Project Manager will manage the EPC project life cycle from initiation, execution, control, commissioning, and closeout. Create delivery excellence on assigned projects and provide certainty and confidence to clients.
  • Maximize client service quality and financial responsibility, managing activities related to project scope, time, cost, cash flow, quality, communications, resources, and risk components.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Formulate the project team and participate in project kickoff meetings to understand scope of work, estimation basis, execution, and subcontracting strategy.
  • Coordinate with the client Project Manager and project management team, setting up project information systems and communications.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Establish work procedures, sequences, and develop schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, vendor lists, and progress milestones in collaboration with the planning team.
  • Manage technical issues with the team and client, regularly reporting project progress to senior management and/or the client.
  • Manage a project team to ensure project safety, scope, schedule, and budgets are tracked and implemented.
  • Establish project procedures and lead the production of the project execution plan, including the scope of work, deliverables list, master schedule, budget, org charts, and risk register.
  • Facilitate the setup of information management systems/applications as applicable to various life phases of projects.
  • Review and analyze cost and cost control progress, financial, and other site-generated data to evaluate job status and progress.
  • Hold P&L responsibility with associated commercial and financial accountability, including revenue delivery, margin, overhead management, budget and forecast determination, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing, and cash collection.
  • Negotiate changes to project scope or specifications with the client, following the Change Management process to identify and approve modifications to scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippage.
  • Ensure competence of project team members to carry out assigned work and responsibilities.
  • Lead ongoing focus on risk identification and mitigation during project execution.
  • Ensure project HSSE leadership, establishing a program of initiatives and auditing schedules, and proactively addressing HSSE and quality management issues.
  • Interact with clients to proactively resolve issues and obtain final client approvals upon project completion.
  • Maintain a continuing business relationship with all clients as part of ongoing business development efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical) with a minimum of 15 years in the Oil & Gas industry. Familiarity with Engineering, Procurement, and Contracting aspects in both onshore and offshore environments.

Additional Information:

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience level: 15 years
  • 15 years or more experience in UAE or the Middle East
  • Minimum 3 years as Project Manager on medium to large scale projects in similar business or industry
  • HSE leadership compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Skills & Professional Requirements:

  • Proven project management experience and a good understanding of business issues.
  • Experience in the related field and locations of work in the UAE.
  • Experience as a Project Manager on electrical projects.
  • Experience working on brownfield projects is preferred.
  • Brownfield experience in the replacement of switchgears in the oil and gas industry.
  • Knowledge of commercial and contract conditions applicable to procurement of various types of goods and services.
  • Good knowledge and experience in project monitoring and forecasting.
  • Ability to manage change control processes on projects with subcontractors and interfaces (if any).
  • In-depth knowledge of all types of project information (deliverables) and their uses, capable of managing information management project teams.
  • Good knowledge of all handover and closeout activities required for clients and suppliers.
  • Understanding of cash flow management as well as projection/forecast of cost at completion.
