About the job:
Kent is recruiting a Project Engineer to support up and coming front-end projects. With a focus on expanding our low carbon capabilities, including green / blue hydrogen, green ammonia, carbon capture storage & utilization, direct air capture, power to X and waste to fuel's projects.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all engineering and design work performed meets quality, cost and schedule requirements.
  • Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
  • Assist and support Study Managers, Project Managers and Engineering Managers to manage all aspects of projects from design and handover.
  • Ability to develop technical specifications, scopes of work and request for information documentation and co-ordinate with technology licensors and original equipment manufacturer.
  • Assist Consultancy Leads in the development of technical proposal, Cost-Time-Resource (CTR's) and document / deliverable registers.
  • Develop high level project schedules and co-ordinate activities and deliverables.
  • Act as the interface between Kent, clients, subcontractors and licensors.
  • Coordinate Design Review Meetings and Progress review meetings between the project team, client stakeholders, subcontractors and licensors.
  • Be a team player, collaborate, and add value to the assigned project.
  • Review critical Contractor's deliverables as required and ensure all Contractor's engineering and design work performed meets contractual obligations, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and advise senior project engineers or leader and Client, and ask for assistance when required.
  • Ensure all design work conforms to the codes and standards used by the Client or to agreed industry standards and complies with all local codes and regulations.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in Low Carbon Technologies and Project Management.
  • Able to co-ordinate the development of Class 5, 4 and 3 cost estimates and understand the development methodologies and level of engineering input required for each.
  • Review overall quality of the project (budget, schedule, plans, personnel's performance) and report regularly on project status.
  • Review the various inputs to the overall Project Plan and identify dependencies, issues, and inconsistencies. Suggest schedule changes where required.
  • Cooperate and communicate with Engineering disciplines and other Project Stakeholders to help and technical support, as and when required.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the project team, Client, and Contractor as well as key stakeholders to report the progress of the work that has been conducted in the period highlighting any notable achievements / milestones, describe the work to be conducted in the next phase, report any risks / issues and mitigation measures that will be implemented.
  • Assist in the selection of suitable vendors and subcontractors.
  • Identify risks and ensure the risk register is established, monitor the risks and suggest risk mitigation plans.
  • Able to co-ordinate and host workshops, such as risk workshops, constructability workshops, model reviews, layout reviews and process design reviews.
  • Monitor project budget and share feedback to Client, whenever required.
  • Able to develop and implement project management procedures, such as management of change processes, including development of design change notice.
  • Able to manage technical query process and coordinate responses from project stakeholders.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • As minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical, electrical or chemical).
  • From 5-10 years relevant experience, involving both discipline engineering as well as in a project role.
  • Worked for at least 3 years in similar positions for an international company.

Skills Requirement:

  • Effective communication skills. Proficient in presenting complex information to project stakeholders, creating technical reports, and actively listening to peers and team members.
  • Oil and Gas Processing. Strong foundation in oil and gas processing fundamentals.
  • Highly advantageous if experienced or knowledgeable in process design for the following areas:
    • Green and Blue Hydrogen Production
    • Ammonia, Methanol, and Urea Synthesis
    • Sustainable Aviation Fuels
    • Power to Liquids and Waste to X
    • Carbon Capture Technologies
    • Licensor and technology evaluation
    • Owners Engineer or Project Management Consultancy role
  • Transition Skills. Demonstrated ability to transfer skills from conventional energy projects to new energy and low-carbon initiatives.
  • Versatile Work Environments. Comfortable working in both office and field-based environments, adapting to diverse project demands.
  • Software Proficiency. Proficient in utilizing relevant software tools, ability to develop complex spreadsheets, high quality consultancy presentations, CAD schematics and able to navigate 3D models in Navis Works.
  • Front End loading. Advantageous working in Appraise and Concept Selection Phases of projects and familiar with FEL 1 / 2 / 3 requirements.
  • Previous experience working for a licensor and involved in developing Process Design Packs would be an added advantage.

Communication:

  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical attributes.
  • Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and line manager and hold presentations to project management and Clients (written and verbal).

  • Adequate knowledge and communication skills in project execution and management for own level.
  • Adequate analytical mindset for interpreting engineering, procurement, construction and planning information.

  • Adequate awareness of how to handle risks and mitigation measures across functions.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical attributes.
  • Ownership of responsibility for work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate project issues to peers and line manager and hold presentations to project management and Clients (written and verbal).
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
