Project Director, Sharjah Airport

PROJECT DIRECTOR

We are looking for the right candidate to lead our team in our ongoing Sharjah Airport Terminal Expansion Project with the below requirements:

1. Educational Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
2. Master’s Degree (optional but preferred): A master's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a similar field is beneficial for leadership roles and managing larger, more complex projects.

2. Professional Certifications:

1. Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certifications from recognized organizations like the Project Management Institute (PMI).
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license or an equivalent local professional certification.
3. Construction Management Certification (e.g., CCM – Certified Construction Manager, or AACE certifications).

3. Experience:

1. Overall 20+ Years of Experience in Construction Management: A proven track record of at least 20 years of experience managing construction projects, with at least 10 years dedicated to airport construction projects. This includes hands-on experience with airport terminal buildings, runways, airfield pavements, and other airport infrastructure and special systems.
2. 10+ Years of Airport Construction Experience: Extensive experience specifically managing and overseeing construction and supervision of large-scale airport projects, including knowledge of specialized requirements like aviation safety, security, noise control, and airside/landside coordination.
3. Supervision of Large and Complex Projects: A background in overseeing significant infrastructure projects, including experience in managing multidisciplinary teams of engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
4. Familiarity with Airport-Specific Regulations: In-depth understanding of regulatory bodies such as the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), and other relevant airport and aviation regulatory standards is a plus.

4. Skills:

1. Leadership and Team Management: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse, multidisciplinary teams involved in complex projects, particularly those related to airport infrastructure.
2. Risk Management and Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate and mitigate risks specific to airport construction, such as safety concerns, logistics, regulatory compliance, and operational disruptions.
3. Budgeting and Financial Management: Proficient in managing large construction budgets, ensuring the project remains on time and within budget, and handling cost control and procurement for complex projects.
4. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities to interact effectively with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
5. Quality Control and Safety Management: Strong emphasis on maintaining the highest safety and quality standards, especially with respect to airport-specific requirements such as security protocols, airside safety, and environmental impact.
6. Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate complex contracts and resolve conflicts with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

5. Additional Skills (Preferred):

1. Familiarity with Construction Software: Knowledge of specialized construction tools like BIM (Building Information Modeling), AutoCAD, Aconex or other project-specific software tools related to airport construction.
2. Cultural Competence: Understanding local customs, regulations, and laws, particularly for international or culturally diverse projects.

6. References and Recommendations:

Strong references and recommendations from previous employers or projects, showcasing successful delivery of airport construction projects on time, within budget, and to the required standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
