PROJECT DIRECTOR - HOSPITALITY CONSTRUCTION

INTRODUCTION: UN!Q Project Solutions, a 10-year-old business with circa 100+ staff across the KSA, UAE, and India, and already having secured a large order book of projects in the UAE, is looking to strengthen its Project Management for delivery across our portfolio of Hospitality projects in the country. This exciting opportunity is for a talented PMP/PMI-qualified Project Management professional able to provide added value to our partners' projects and portfolios in the UAE.

Reporting to the Managing Director/Country Director/Head of Project Management, the selected candidate will be expected to deliver best-in-class Project Management service solutions to our existing partners across Hospitality projects, which we are entrusted to deliver portfolio service solutions. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing large-scale Project Director remits from the RAK site/head offices and must have demonstrable previous experience of successful Project Management delivery of major Middle East projects for tier 1 PMC consultants.

Additionally, as PMP/PMI members, the chosen candidate will also be expected to mentor, train, and develop our talented Project Managers working towards their PMP/PMI, ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained across the entire business. While these opportunities are open to all Project Director candidates in the GCC region, we encourage suitable candidates from the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, or New Zealand looking for their first overseas posting. We are specifically looking for individuals wishing to work for a smaller, more personable business that will afford you the opportunity for career growth with full management support and guidance.

Please be aware, we are not looking for candidates from either a Contractor and/or Engineering Consultant background, and such candidates will not be shortlisted for interviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Determine and define project scope and objectives in line with time, cost, and quality drivers.
  2. Prepare a Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  3. Prepare a budget based on the scope of work and resource requirements and track project costs to meet the budget.
  4. Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  5. Review drawings for completeness and capture of intent.
  6. Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress, ensuring continuous engagement and communication until satisfactory project completion.
  7. Manage contracts with suppliers and determine best-value solutions.
  8. Utilise industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout the entire project execution in line with local authority requirements.
  9. Monitor progress and ensure compliance with the agreed programme.
  10. Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  11. Manage risk register and mitigate potential events.
  12. Chair progress meetings and ensure reports reflect project status accurately.
  13. Set strategic direction for sitewide networks and systems to be implemented into the master plan.
  14. Research and review various technologies and industry innovations, establishing business cases for initiating sustainable systems and networks as appropriate for the region.
  15. Set standards for systems design and design review for our Partners.
  16. Lead the technical design submissions review to ensure integration across the portfolio.
  17. Support procurement of design and technical consultants by establishing requirements, setting briefs, and assessing technical submissions of tenders.
  18. Add value by challenging and innovating on established methods of technical delivery where appropriate.
  19. Ensure that design consultants meet their contractual deliverables to acceptable quality on time.
  20. Ensure deliverables from consultants are met to acceptable quality for tendering.
  21. Challenge the design to provide the best product for the best value; identify VM and VE opportunities and contribute to the process.
  22. Manage peer reviews relating to designs.
  23. Evaluate and establish feasibilities for new/novel technologies and their integration into building design.
  24. Ensure design consultant implements an effective strategy for statutory approvals.
  25. Closely liaise and coordinate with Design and Master Planning teams to ensure fully coordinated and technical responses to Consultant submittals and proposals.
  26. Review, comment and approve all technical reports using Primavera, Power Bi, MS Projects, Risk Registers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management or a related field.
  2. 15+ years of Project Management and related experience for Tier 1 PMC Consultants (Engineering or Contractor organisations shall be disregarded).
  3. Project Management Professional (PMP/PMI) certification preferred.
  4. Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  5. Strong familiarity with Project Management software tools (Power Bi, Primavera), Project Execution Plans, methodologies, and best industry practices.
  6. Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle of cradle-to-grave.
  7. Excellent analytical skills.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
  9. Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
