Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, procurement, materials, sub-contracting and resources. Work closely with stakeholders to define project goals and deliverables.
- Team Leadership and Management: Lead and manage project teams, including project managers, engineers, technical team, commercial and construction staff. Assign responsibilities and set clear objectives for the team. Foster a collaborative and positive working environment. Work closely with internal stakeholders/departments to facilitate coordinated execution of the works.
- Commercial: Work closely with procurement to obtain value for money materials and sub-contractors. Approve contracts, purchase orders, and invoices related to the project.
- Project Execution and Monitoring: Oversee the execution of construction projects, adherence to plans, specifications, and quality standards. Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify issues, and compliance with safety regulations. Implement corrective actions to address any deviations from project plans.
- Risk Management and Problem Solving: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Resolve conflicts and challenges that arise during the project lifecycle. Put contingency plans in place for high-risk activities and activate when necessary.
- Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for senior management, contractors, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status. Conduct meetings with stakeholders to review project milestones and address concerns.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures and resources for the project to be constructed in accordance with the project design. Promote QA/QC good practice. Conduct regular QA/QC review meetings to monitor compliance.
- Health and Safety: Implement HSE control procedures and resources for the project to be constructed in a safe manner and in compliance with the relevant safety codes, regulations, and safety standards. Promote HSE good practice. Conduct regular HSE review meetings to monitor compliance.
- Project Closeout and Handover: Oversee the project closeout process, including final inspections, documentation, and handover to the End User.
Essential Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in the construction industry including 10 years of experience in roles such as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
- Experience should cover various aspects of construction, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and team leadership.
- Proven experience in managing teams and leading projects from inception to completion is crucial. This includes experience in managing project budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relationships.
- Project Management Skills: Strong skills in project planning, risk management, and contract administration are essential.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to manage large budgets, control costs, and perform financial forecasting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address and resolve issues as they arise.
- Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage conflicts, and ensure project objectives are met.
- Knowledge of Industry Standards: Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and best practices.
