Roles and responsibilities

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Program Director to join our client’s team in the healthcare sector. The successful candidate will lead, manage, and deliver complex, high-impact programs from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the organization. This is a critical role that requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a proven track record of success in healthcare-related projects or leading complex, high value IT programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of IT programs and projects, ensuring they meet business objectives and timelines.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement IT strategies that align with healthcare industry trends and organizational goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior leadership, clinical staff, and other stakeholders to identify technology needs and drive adoption.
  • Budget Management: Manage program budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all programs comply with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, and industry best practices.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics to assess program performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and partners to leverage technology solutions that enhance healthcare delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT programme management, with a focus on the healthcare industry.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare technologies, systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale IT initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results.
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification is a plus.

  1. Program Design and Strategy

    • Collaborating with senior management or board members to define the program’s goals, objectives, and outcomes.
    • Developing program plans that outline the scope, activities, timelines, and resource requirements to meet the established objectives.
  2. Needs Assessment

    • Conducting research or assessments to understand the target population's needs and the specific requirements of the program.
    • Analyzing data and feedback to ensure the program addresses those needs effectively.
  3. Resource Allocation

    • Determining the resources required (staff, budget, facilities, technology, etc.) to implement and sustain the program.
    • Securing necessary resources and ensuring they are used efficiently and responsibly.

Team Leadership and Management

  1. Staff Management

    • Leading and managing program staff, including hiring, training, mentoring, and providing performance evaluations.
    • Ensuring team members have the tools, support, and motivation needed to successfully carry out their tasks.
  2. Delegating Tasks

    • Assigning specific tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and the program's needs.
    • Monitoring progress to ensure tasks are completed on time and in accordance with program objectives.
  3. Building and Leading Cross-Functional Teams

    • Collaborating with other departments or stakeholders (such as marketing, fundraising, or finance) to ensure all aspects of the program run smoothly.
    • Leading regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps.

Budget and Financial Management

  1. Budget Planning and Monitoring

    • Developing and managing the program’s budget, ensuring it aligns with the organization's financial resources.
    • Tracking expenses, reviewing financial reports, and making adjustments to the budget as necessary to avoid overspending.
  2. Fundraising and Grant Writing

    • Identifying funding sources such as grants, donations, or sponsorships to support the program.
    • Writing and submitting grant proposals, fundraising campaigns, or sponsorship requests to secure financial support.
