Roles and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer - Civil material to join our team in Dubai. As a key member of our project delivery team, the candidate will play a crucial role ensuring successful execution of civil material procurement activities for industries like Aluminium, Steel, Marble, Joinery, Ready mix Concrete, Residential and Commercial building projects. Your expertise in overseas procurement will be essential as we navigate complex supply chains and source high-quality civil items.
- Procurement: Collaborate with international suppliers and manufacturers to procure civil materials and services. Leverage your knowledge of global markets to identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and select vendors based on their track record, reliability, and ability to meet project requirements. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to elevate procurement outcomes.
- Technical Specifications: Work closely with project managers and consultants to understand technical specifications and key technical requirements to negotiate and maximize overall savings. Ensure that purchased items align with project requirements and comply with relevant standards.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Streamline procurement processes, minimize lead times, and manage delivery effectively. Identify potential risks related to deliveries and develop mitigation strategies.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality control procedures for civil material components. Coordinate with inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain actual records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance. Generate regular reports for management review.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, and logistics, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil finishing items procurement. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Proven expertise in civil finishes materials & systems used in residential and hotel buildings. At least 10-12 years of experience in procurement, with expertise in material procurement.
Strong communication and organizational skills. Expertise in different languages is a plus.
Demonstrable success in managing overseas procurement.
Proficiency in procurement software and advanced research methodologies.
Familiarity with procurement processes, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier proposals and make data-driven decisions.
Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Procurement Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand the project's material and service requirements. Develop procurement strategies that outline material specifications, delivery schedules, quality standards, and cost estimates for the project. Research potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and select the best vendors based on cost, quality, and lead times.
- Supplier Selection and Relationship Management: Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers, ensuring they have the capacity to deliver materials and services as per project requirements. Negotiate terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and other conditions with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms for the project. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers, monitoring performance and resolving any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost.
- Technical Specifications and Compliance: Review and ensure that materials, equipment, and services conform to technical specifications and quality standards outlined by the engineering team. Work closely with quality control teams to ensure that procured materials meet the required standards and are inspected upon delivery. Ensure that all procurement activities comply with local, national, and international standards, as well as company policies.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Assist in estimating procurement costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining the quality of materials and services. Monitor procurement expenses and ensure that costs stay within the project’s budget. Work with finance teams to manage payment schedules and vendor invoicing. Look for opportunities to optimize costs through value engineering without compromising on project quality or timelines.
